Question Bonding with Peaches

Hiya!

I brought home my new (and first) hamster Peaches last Thursday - yup she was my valentines baby! She's been settling well and I thought our bonding sessions were going well too.She will sit in my hands and take treats and is happy for me to stroke her back - for some reason she hates her head being touched?! But today I tried to do the bathtub bonding technique as I'd like to be able to handle her. She was so frantic and stressed that she was only there for about 10 minutes max before I decided to take her back to her cage. She would still accept food from me but didn't seem interested in climbing me or anything.

I don't know what to do!

Thanks,
Charlotte

Default Re: Bonding with Peaches

Just take it slow, they're often nervous during the first out of cage time, if the bath seems a bit too much for her then you could try either a large storage bin as a play area or use a playpen, keep sessions really short to begin with.
