Default gastric indigestion

Hi everyone, my syrian hamster - Tooby is currently suffering from gastric indigestion. She is about 8 months old and her weight is currently decreased to 109g from 137g last month.

She is currently taking Fibreplex (which she doesn't like) and 5x Emeprid, I would like to know if there is any food that I can get in the UK that can help her.

Thanks a lot.

I'm sorry to hear your hammy is poorly. I've never ever heard of a hamster suffering from this condition. What are the symptoms you took her to the vet for?
Fibreplex is normally used for rabbits and Emperid is not something I have ever seen prescribed for a hamster. Is the vet an exotic specialist?
I would be thinking that there is another cause for the weight loss. Things that often cause this are teeth problems thus not eating properly, kidney or liver problems or heart problems that are causing fluid to gather in the abdomen and this draws fluid out the bowels causing constipation. Lack of good bacteria in the gut can also affect them. If she is full of fibreplex she won't be eating normal food as she isn't hungry. Another cause can be a womb infection which does not show much except weight loss and sometimes a discharge. To try and help her gain weight you can try soaking her food and also giving a small amount of babyfood and porridge. Also plain chicken, egg white, cooked pasta, tofu (try one each day) and increase oil seeds like sunflower hearts.
I would maybe get another opinion and get teeth checked and tummy felt for lumps / bloating etc

Thanks for your reply Souffle.
We had visited three different vet already. On 28/11, we found out that her bottom part was wet but the poo was still solid at that time. We brought her to the first vet on 29/11, he said that she was doing fine and maybe related to the change of food at that time (we were giving her Nature's Touch Hamster 500g at that time). The vet then gave us Oxbow Critical Care and suggested us to give her kiwi daily, and at the same time we got her Harry Hamster Complete Muesli 700g (this is the food that we gave her at first).
Besides Harry Hamster Complete Muesli (but we took out all the sunflower seeds), we gave her almond, pumpkin seeds, Harry Hamster Yuppies with apple and sweetcorn and other snack made with Linseed. (maybe 1 or 2 times a day as a treat and snacks are randomly picked, not feeding all at a time)- Please correct me if I gave her wrong food.

On 5/12, her bottom part is still wet and smelly, her right hand stomach start getting bigger (I thought it was lump) so we brought her to another vet on the same day. The vet said they have checked her heart beat and everything and said she was fine, so they were thinking it was the early stage of wet tail, they gave her 5 days baytril. And they said the stomach is getting bigger is just because she was full. After we gave her the medicine, her had her first wet poo.

5 days later, we visited the vet again, the vet said she was getting better so she gave her 7 more days baytril and at that time her weight was 123g.

After a week, we didn't see any improvement so we brought her to the third vet (they told me they are specialist)and this vet is recommended by another vet. We visited the third vet on 19/12, he said that its related the change of food and nutrition imbalance, the lack of fibre lead to poo was not formed normally and there were gas in her stomach and thats why the belly is getting bigger and bigger.

---------------
I have checked her teeth, it was fine and wasn't too long and she didn't lose appetite so far. She drank 2.5 cc water yesterday (didn't drink too much so I guess there are not serious infection in her body). For the fibreplex, after the first day she took it herself, she doesn't like it anymore, I just put a little bit on pumpkin seeds and give it to her twice a day. I guess she is still hungry because she didn't take much fibreplex and thats why she always take most of the food from the container. I am scared that she is suffering from womb infection as well because the symptoms looks the same.

I would get her babyfood and do you have any recommendation like flavour or is there any ingredients I should avoid getting it? and also plain chicken and sunflower seeds.

Recently I got her JR Farm Oat Bites, JR Farm Apple Chips and Vitakraft Green Rollis, is there anyone of them can relief her pain?

Thanks a lot and sorry that the reply is a bit too long.

I'm not sure what the actual problem is, I do agree with souffle that the meds do sound strange for a ham, she should be getting plenty of fibre with Harry Hamster as her main mix they do need a reasonable amount but not too much so the mix plus some fresh veg (only a little) is usually enough.
I would go easy on the treats until she's better, stick to plain mix & maybe a few extra seeds, the oat bites are ok but I wouldn't give fruit at this stage.
Have you tried giving any probiotics? That might help with any digestive issues she may have & even if there is something else going on it would still give her a boost.
In the UK most people use ProC which is available from a lot of pet shops & online.

I think this sounds more like a pyometra as well. She doesn't have fluffy bedding does she or anything that could cause a blockage?
Drinking a lot is another symptom of pyo and the swelling is worrying. Antibiotics will give a period of respite but if it is a pyo it will come back.
There is some good info here:

We just put some wood flakes at her toilet area and other part we use shredded kitchen paper and she usually move to her house. The vet gave her around 2 weeks antibiotics but it wasn't helping.
I have gone through the website and it doesn't sounds like pyometra I think because she just has Swelling of the stomach, Foul smell and Increased drinking and urinating(maybe)

Update: after going through more site related to pyo, it does look like pyo but the only difference is we didn’t see her discharge so far. The one I saw last time is last month and that was colourless. I guess I will bring her to the vet again.
