Re: Wonder's Thread
She really is very cute?
How's her respiratory problem now, any better?

Re: Wonder's Thread
Thanks Cypher.
Her respiratory troubles seem to have drastically improved but I couldn't say they have entirely disappeared.
I'm pretty sure if I met wonder today and had no prior knowledge, I probably wouldn't think twice about her occasional snuffle/slight jerky body while eating.
She is unbelievably lively, meaning taming has been slow.
Although she is okay with you picking her up for a moment, she is quite easily startled and seems quite oblivious to her surroundings, trying to scuttle off my hand into the unknown.
When she's in her playpen there's no catching her. She explores at superspeed!

Re: Wonder's Thread
Also, Wonder seems so unfazed if I touch her lower half and it seems to cause her more discomfort the higher I go.
Touching the top of her head makes her crouch low and move away very awkwardly. Of course i'm not doing that at the moment but i'm hoping she warms up in time.

Just remembered with Lil that after I mastered open palm hand to hand holding, I moved onto slight cupped hands around her to get her used to that feeling not being threatening.
Just tried this with Wonder for a moment and she responded very well

Re: Wonder's Thread
Good to hear she's so much better now.
She always looks quite tame already in your photos, I've no doubt handling can be a bit tricky to begin with as she's so young & full of beans but I'm sure you'll continue to make good progress with her.

Re: Wonder's Thread
Thanks Cypher. She is definitely starting from a more tame place than Lil was when I first got her
It's just learning each hamsters personality I suppose.
Wonder (so far) isn't very inquisitive when I place my hand near her.
I reckon it's all still sensory overload!

Aw a really sweet photo of Wonder! Happy to hear the respiratory issues seem to be improving. I’m sure the taming will come along too

Re: Wonder's Thread
Beautiful photo of the gorgeous wonder chewing on her whimzee. I am so so pleased to hear that her respiratory issue is improving. Taming can be a little difficult when they are so energetic but glad that she responded well when you slightly cupped hand whilst holding her.
