Congrats on your new girl! Spooty looks really sweet

The cage you have isn't really all that suitable for hams unfortunately, it looks like a mesh floor on the upper level? If it is that could lead to Spooty developing a very painful condition called bumblefoot, if you are going to keep the cage then I would completely cover the level with cardboard, hemp mat or something safe.
You might do better with the wheel on the top level as you need a lot more substrate in the base, I would go for a minimum of 15-20cm so she can dig & burrow down & make a proper nest, maybe give her a nice big cardboard box for a house too.
The ladder is very high & steep so adding all that substrate would make it a lot safer too.
You do need to find a solid wheel, open rung or mesh wheels can cause the same problems as the mesh floor plus the possibility of getting feet trapped. If you can't find a solid wheel where you are then you could try covering the track with cardboard.
Hams generally do better with a cage that's all on one level, I don't know what cages would be available where you are & if there would be something more suitable.

Congratulations! Spooty is adorable!

The cage she's in seems a bit small to me, the minimum cage size in my opinion is 80x50cm and that should all be on one level. I would recommend a DIY bin cage as they're cheap and easy to find.

From the pictures, it seems like she doesn't have anything to chew on. Hamsters' teeth grow continuously and they need something to wear them down. You could try dog biscuits like Bonio and Biscrok Originals. Whimzees Chews also tend to be popular with hams.

I agree with cypher in that you do need to get a solid sufaced wheel. In the meantime, you could make it safer by folding a piece of paper to the width of the wheel and gluing it down. This would only be a temporary fix.

Good luck with your little girl

Thanks so much everyone!
She's been with us a week as of yesterday.
After joining several Hamster groups on FB and doing TONS of research, we decided to do a bin cage
The current upstairs cage habitat is getting returned, Petco has a great return policy! I'm keeping the 10 gal tank to put her in when I clean the bin.
I picked up a Hefty HI-RISE 113 qt storage bin at Wal-Mart. With this weekend being a 3-day holiday, she'll have a new mansion by late Sat, early Sun.
Can't wait to begin this project

The hefty HI-RISE is a fairly good bin. I used to house my robo in it. Do keep in mind that it is still a bit on the small side for a Syrian, so you may end up with a ham who needs more space! Some hamsters are never satisfied with the space they have

Good luck with the project! You should share some pics as you go.
