Are Syrians generally trouble makers and am I been to ruth?

Hi guys. So I have a Syrian called Hoji and Bihar a death before her. Literally every time Hoji has been out she manages to get places she shouldn't, no matter how well blocked off they are. It takes half an hour's to get her back in after chasing her about, she's into everything. This first bother me but my auntie said her Syrian was the same but compared my dwarf was as good as gold. Is this a species thing?

Also, when I pick her up to go back in or to stop her doing something dangerous she wiggled out so I have to grab her a bit firmer, not hard but definitely more than my dwarf. I'm just worried this is a little ruth. I'm not squeezing her or anything

Hamsters aren't "good" or "bad". They are just following their natural instincts. Different species may have varying temperaments and different sexes can behave differently but mostly every hamster is an individual with an individual personality. Your hamster isn't trying to be naughty or break rules - they don't know there are any! They just like to explore and they like burrowing so will head for dark corners. Do you have bath tub? You might find it easier to play with your hamster in an empty, dry bath - put the plug in and a towel on the bottom and a few toys in. It will be harder for your hamster to escape from as the sides are slippery. She sounds like a wriggly ham but if she doesn't like being held still she may try and wriggle out of your hands more.

They can be very active and instinctively try to get into the most inaccessible places. They also pick up on your vibes, so if you're stressed your hamster will be stressed and if you're feeling frustrated or cross with her she won't trust you. Female Syrians have been known to be a bit maverick on occasion! They come into heat every four days..

It's good that you let her have out of cage time, but maybe for her safety it would be better to have a safe area for her to be in - either rig up a playpen area or use an area of the hallway blocked off with something solid - somewhere where there are no pipe holes in the floor or skirting board and hard floors

If she isn't hand tame yet she will be more actively trying to escape and harder to hold, so you could consider using the dry bath as an out of cage place to run around and do some bathtub taming. Once they're hand tame they're much easier to handle and can be more relaxed with you. But yes you might injure her if you squeeze too hard so that's not recommended and it will also set back her trust in you as she wont feel safe.

Hi guys, I didn't mean she was naughty I meant more mischievous. She doesn't really have rules. I get They don't understand there doing wrong and really she isn't. I just was unsure if compared to dwarfs they were more mischievous and active. I probably worde of it wrong.
I have cats too so I know the definition of trouble maker lol
