Hi all. I hope everyone had a nice holiday season! I have a question:

Teddy doesn't like sleeping in the shoebox house I made him. It's upside down, on top of substrate with an entrance cut out. It also has a wooden bendy bridge above the entrance to make a sort of tunnel. Anyway, instead of the nice, dark house, he sleeps in a corner by his wheel. I give him toilet paper to use for bedding, which he has covered himself with in the corner for sleeping. Is there anything abnormal about this? Should I try encouraging him to sleep in his house?

Here's a pic of him peeking out of his wheel last week.

Funny little things aren’t they?! The position of the house may make a difference. I would pop the house over his current nest and put a nice treat in there. And see if he stays in it or moves out.

Thank you! The nest is actually in a corner and his wheel is right next to it, so there isn't room to move the house. He seems fine being in the corner, but I just think he would enjoy the house so much more! At least I would! Here's a pic:

They do seem to prefer sleeping in a corner, could you move the wheel a bit to make room for the house there?

That's a great idea. I may do that. He seems fine where he is and I've been giving him strips of TP every night, so he has a pretty big nest and is covered completely by the TP. So I think he's fine there. He's such a stinker. Love that little guy!

Goodness is that Hogwarts?! Agree with moving the wheel along a bit and plonking the house over his nest.

It is! LOL. More specifically, my son's Gryffindor Tower set. Which is ironic, because aforementioned, Teddy is definitely a Hufflepuff.

I ended up moving the wheel and placing the shoebox above the nest. I think he was a little freaked out at first, but he went into the shoebox to sleep this morning. He's generally really laid back, so I imagine he will get used to it in no time.I had to move his water bottle and food as well, and he didn't seem to have any problem with that. Thanks for all of the advice, everyone!

I caught Teddy peeping out of his sand bath/potty the other night.
