Thank you so much everyone for your praise of my beautiful boy. Sadly, he decided to be a no show on his 2 month old evening. Perhaps he did not want to risk a playpen session!
Last night I decided to add the wheel into his cage. He had shown that he was not a continual wheeler, preferring breaks even short ones. Also if I didn't see him in the evening, I knew he might be climbing the bars and chewing them in the night. He did that some evenings.
So I set about the alterations and in the end he could not resist coming out to see what was going on. He was trying out the wheel happily while I was still making minor alterations inside. I had seen one or two weaknesses which needed attention, for example the rat Sputnik has 3 entrances and I had provided access to two so naturally he had used the third to reach the bars and climb on them and drop down. Now there is a wooden slope there down to a shelf. Tonight I will have to lower that a little because I spotted him using the shelf to get into the wheel through a higher opening and dropping down! Honestly!
I just hope that I still get to see him now that he has more entertainment. At the moment he is not interested in pumpkin seeds in my hand which the others adored. He does like the veggies though but that is still every other day for now.

This is Maestro's set up now. The shelf I mentioned that he used last night to launch himself into the wheel is mostly hidden behind the Sputnik. That must be lowered a little! The dark blue salt pig he just loves. He grooms in it or just sits inside with his little face peeping out. I think he can be at the front of the cage and look around but still feel covered and safe.

Its a shame you didn't get to see Maestro on his 2 month old evening - although it was sweet to hear that he had to come out when you were alerting his cage slightly. I am sure he will enjoy having his wheel in his cage - and it good Maestro uses it in short bursts.
Maestro layout looks really good and he has plenty of things in there to keep him occupied - so sweet that he enjoys using his salt pig to have a wash or sit in!

Maestro's cage looks great Coco, good to hear how much he's enjoying it if getting a little daring at times lol! I'd love to see him sitting in the salt pig, sounds adorable
It is a shame he didn't want to come out & celebrate his two month birthday with you but it does sound as though he's coming along really well, just picking his moments I'm sure the wheel & the other changes will encourage him to be out & about a bit more.
Silly boy doesn't know what he's missing with those pumpkin seeds but hopefully you'll find a favourite treat he can't resist soon.

I'm so sorry that Maestro was a no show for his own very special 2 Month's Birthday party! Hopefully, he will be excited to celebrate a belated one with you shortly as I know these special milestones are quite important to us hamparents.

I love the cage setup; he will have an incredible time playing with his wheel and enjoy investigating all that you have done to his lovely home. It must be so sweet to see him grooming in the salt pig. Hopefully, he will allow you to take a pic of him in there. He is so cute and does seem quite daring. Maybe he is practicing some hamnastics and will be in this year's Summer Hamolympics. I do hope he stops giving you a fright though; hammies definitely know how to make us hamparents' hearts stop a beat!

I think Maestro must have stayed in to wash his hair on his two month birthday So he looked good. Then came out at night and found everyone had gone to bed!

His cage looks like fun with lots of things to do with the tube and bridge to the sputnik. I bet he enjoys doing a few circuits! Would also like to see him in his salt pig

A belated thank you for the 2 months wishes. Today Maestro has been with me for 4 weeks. Taming comes along at his pace. Sometimes he will come out onto the large front door or nearby and can be scooped up for some handling. He does not really want to take food treats from me at the moment. Others evenings he is a no show or won't come to the front.
Last time out I decided to try and weigh him for the first time. So at 10 weeks he weighed in at 165 gms. That seems a good weight at his age. Then last night he would not come out but I decided to snatch some photos to make up.
