Re: Maestro is here!
I haven't get congratulated Maestro on his second placing in the pet class at the Andover show - very much deserved. So lovely seeing him with his rosette. I hope he is enjoying his new treats and your fridge magnet looks adorable. Its so lovely that you daughter got to meet Maestro on Fathers day. Definitely sound like he enjoys his sputniks but it lovely he got to spend a bit of time with you on the sofa albeit being a little wary - I'm sure he will get more confident on the sofa soon!

Re: Maestro is here!
Good to hear you're all coping with the heat and sounds like Maestro is a very contented young ham, watching the world go by from his sputnik. I got sputniks for Boris and Pasha after reading about how much they were loved on here. I was hoping to see them sitting in them, gazing around etc, but no, the most anyone has done with them here is to use it as another store cupboard

Re: Maestro is here!
Thank you everyone! There has not been much news recently and no photos. I really must try harder. The biggest problem has been the heat of course. That peaked last week before the thunderstorm broke on Friday night and more rain today. My H worked so hard with frozen water bottles and a small fan near the cage. Then when I came in from work, I would rotate the granite roof with one from the fridge. That gave me the chance to give him some veg in bed. To see his little nose emerge from his nest and take the offering meant I knew he was ok. We have had everything open as much as possible to bring down the indoor temperature by bedtime.
Last night I was rewarded. I went to change his water and feed him...and there was Maestro out and about waiting for me. Haven't seen that during the worst of the heat. He came out of the front door of the HH to see what I had for him. I took the opportunity to scoop him up and weigh him. He preferred to explore on the kitchen counter top but he was still long enough to log his weight at 190 gms. He was 5 months old just the other day so he may still have some growing to do. I think that is a good weight. He is certainly larger than Mocho whose peaked at 168.
I went back to the cage expecting to play with him on my lap with the door resting there too. But he realised that his Saturday monkey nut was in his Sputnik and he was off up there quickly to begin crunching away- a happy boy!
It is set to get warmer again but I don't think it will be as bad.

Re: Maestro is here!
What a lovely reward for all your hard work keeping things as cool as possible for Maestro during all the hot weather to have him come out to see you once it cooled down a bit!
It must be so sweet to see that little nose peeking out when you give him his veg in bed but even nicer to have him come to the door to greet you
He is a good weight now.

Re: Maestro is here!
I'm so sorry that the temperature has been so unbearable; I'm glad that you all had some relief from the intense heat but sad to hear that forecast is predicting more heat again soon. Hopefully, it won't be as bad and Maestro will not be find it hard to cope with. It is the perfect reward for all of your hard work at keeping things cool that Maestro has been coming out more, enjoying your bonding time together, and greeting you at the door. He is such a sweetheart and so cute. Maestro enjoying his Sputnik and watching the world go by sounds absolutely precious. I just love him so much!

Re: Maestro is here!
It's always rewarding when they're waiting for you, Maestro knows a good thing! Good on your hubby keeping him cool, I'm also glad you've since had rain.
The monkey nut & sputnik brought a huge smile to my face.
