Default Intro and color questions

Hi everyone! I have had hamsters on and off for about 25 years. Right now my son and daughter both have one Syrian hamster. So much has changed since I last owned syrians.

Is a 40 gallon tank a large enough habitat per hamster? Also can anyone help me with what colors are babies are?

Hello and Welcome to Hamster Central.
A 40 gallon tank is a good size for a hamster.
I only have a small knowledge on hamster colours however I don't know what colour your children's hamsters are. Someone with more knowledge on colours should be able to help you out though.
They are both very cute though - what are their names?

Thanks @sbk_hamsters

They are named Peanut (the solid colored one) and Holly (the spotted one). I'm guessing Holly is the usual color of syrians with white spotting but I'm not sure. They are both very relaxed and friendly!

Lovely hamsters, I'm not to sure about the colours either but I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you.

Hi and welcome. You have two cute hamsters there.
I think the first one is a Golden Dominant spot and the second one is a Long haired Mink.
It's tricky to tell from pictures and without a background.
Sometimes hamsters carry other genes or have a bit of a mix which influences their colour and this can make them look slightly different from the standard colour.

Congrats on getting two absolutely gorgeous and friendly hams for your children! I'm sure they will have the greatest time loving and caring for these two darlings. I love their names and colorings, too.
