My Daphne Isn’t Using Her Hideout Anymore
So! I have had my Syrian, Daphne Gladys, for about a week and a half. I had bought her a hut to be her little hideout and she happily used it for the first week. For the last four nights or so she has taken to sleeping in a little burrow she dug for herself under a wooden mat that I have her sand bath on. Does this tickle anyone’s spidey senses? I am hoping it might just mean that the hut is too cramped for her. Would love some guidance- should I get her a larger hut or just let the new spot be her bed?

I would just let her have her nest where she chooses. It's a nice natural behavior to build a next and tunnel and shows she is settling and using her cage to her liking.
Sometimes they choose to use the hideout as a potty so keep a check on that.
I find the open nests more airy and clean for them too
Don't overclean the cage at this stage or destroy the nest as it;s best she settles. Spot cleans and half cleans are best for many weeks.

My hamsters change where they nest quite often. Not sure why, but I don’t worry about it anymore.

I wouldn't worry about her changing her nesting place. Many hams do that so there isn't anything to be concerned about. It is also natural for them to burrow and create their own special nest there. Btw, love the Spiderman reference; I'm a huge Spiderman fan, too (although actual spiders freak me out).

Re: My Daphne Isn’t Using Her Hideout Anymore
The only thing I'd worry about is the sandbath sinking on her. Is it on a wood platform or on the floor of the cage? Assume the wood mat is on legs!
