If you are trying to grab your hamster with two fingers you are likely to hurt him or at least scare him.
If he'll climb onto your palm then try gently placing your other hand over the top of him so you are cupping him in your hand, let him get used to that, may take a while, before trying to lift him.
He may just run through your hands when you do that, as long as he's safe & can't fall that's fine, just letting him do that for a while will help him get used to hands.
If you need to transport him out of the cage then give him something safe that he'll climb into.
Cage climbing can be risky, if you can upload a photo of your cage we may be able to make suggestions to help prevent that.

You should try uploading your photos, and it's better to leave your hamster for at least 2 to 4 days if you've just recently bought him.

Climbing the cage might mean that he's bored or just love climbing, depending on the size of the cage.

This may sound odd but do you have a bath? A dry bath with some fleece at the bottom works for me when I'm taming stubborn hams. When they start trying to climb the bath, I put my hand underneath their hind legs and kind of help them up. I've found this a good way to get hamsters to trust me because they see you as something that can help them rather than a threat.

Grabbing with two fingers isn't the greatest way to pick up a hamster as that hand shape mimics the claws of a bird and the ham's natural instincts will kick in. Instead, try scooping from below and lift

What cage have you got? Smaller cages are a source for boredom which may be why he is climbing the bars so often

Hi. I'm sorry to break this to you, but your cage is far too small for any species of hamster. Most countries have regulations of a minimum of 360 square inches, although in my opinion this is still too small. I'd recommend you move her to a bigger cage asap!
I can understand buying a new cage all over again can be quite expensive, but consider using a bin cage. They come dirt cheap. The IKEA Samla bin cages are really good and cheap and is around 600square inches. So note, multiple levels in a cage doesn't really help since hamsters are ground dwellers. Here's the link to it on the IKEA Malaysia website: https://www.ikea.com/my/en/catalog/products/10180944/
The climbing of the cage which you have described is a possible sign of cage aggression. To not upgrade soon can subject your little one to tremendous stress and boredom, which is extremely unhealthy and also not nice for them.
Hope this helped.

See how it goes when you change the cage over, it can take them a while to settle but you can still talk to your ham & if she seems happy to interact then do, let her guide you really.
A 21cm wheel is usually ok for a young syrian but once fully grown they often need larger, 10-12".

I've added a link to the bin that I suggested to my previous post. But here it is again: http://https://www.ikea.com/my/en/ca...ucts/10180944/

Here's a tutorial I think would be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09Ev1brzmHI&t=142s

You might need to make a lid for the bin if you have a syrian. But if your little one is a dwarf you don't need to worry about that. And like cypher said, 21cm is good for a young syrian. It works well for a grown winter white or Campbell's as well (Not sure which hamster you have, since I can't seem to find that anywhere.) But 21cm would be a bit too big for a robo.
