Default Meet Luna

Hi Guys,

Introducing Luna. A one year old syrian that was being re-homed by a lady that had just moved house. I brought her home last thursday night and left her alone in the cage that came with her. Its a furplast something (Pictured) - not very big.

I managed to get her into the new mamble on Sunday and instead of disturbing her nest just put the whole cage base into the new one.

She's doing really well, a bit shy and a lot quieter than i thought after previous hamsters (years ago now mind). One of my gerbils makes enough noise for all three small furries in the house so its a bit of a relief.

Its a bit more sparse than i'd like but i'm going to have to build up a toy stock just for her. She didn't seem to know what to do with the loo role tubes i put in but has nibbled the ends and is slowly getting more confident running around the cage.

I'm loving having a hamster again, but i can't believe how big she is compared to my two gerbil girls.

Photo's attached.

Congratulations. Hopefully Luna will get used to her new cage and will enjoy the new toys and having more space.

Putting her old cage base with her nest etc into the Mamble was a good idea as it will be familiar to her.

Thanks for you lovely replies,

Luna's really getting settles in now. She's starting to get quite bold, wanting to come out of the cage when i open the door.

I set up a playpen last night and got her out of the cage with her ball and she loved it. even climbed into my lap and over my leg.

forget me earning her trust its me that doesn't want to trust her with my fingers at the moment. Any advice for nervous owners?

She looks so tiny in that playpen!
Try not to be nervous, they can pick up on that so it can set you both back, maybe easier said than done but just try to relax around her, she sounds great & I can't see any indication from what you say that she might bite or anything so go at your own pace (& hers) & just enjoy her!
