Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
As some of you may have read, I was off to Tuftylfluffs last weekend for a baby. My daughter Dusty lost her gorgeous Hoshi at Easter but has rehomed a robo Loki since. She decided to come with me and as you hamster addicts out there will realise it is impossible to look at babies when you have an empty cage at home and a Syrian shaped hole in your heart. So we came away with 2 babies! Both were bred by Hurtle Hams
Jarvis is now at home with Dusty. His lineage is very impressive. Both parents and all 4 grandparents were bred by Tristar. He is a SH golden. I leave more to his proud owner. She will post the photos.
Mocho is with me. We noticed from the pedigrees that Jarvis's mother is Mocho's grandmother and think that makes them nephew and uncle! Both are 8 weeks but born a day apart. He is umbrous golden so noticeably the darker of the two.
Mocho is settling to the sounds and smells of his new home. He has been handled from early on and is very active. I am using the cardboard box his hamster heaven came in as a starter playpen. He now has Serendidpity's spare wodent wheel in there and loves it. He has found the bars fun and climbs all over them and knows where the large door is. He climbs there and when I open it he launches out into the world and onto me!
Last night my husband was up half the night with the election. He reported a lot of bar chewing and monkey barring across the roof. So - I was planning to wait a bit before putting his wheel in the cage. While young I could monitor his use of the wheel during playtime. But should I put it in this weekend?
Advice very welcome please.

I'll wait for someone who knows more than me to answer that Coco! Glad the wheel is ok! (Coco kindly bought it from me rather than me returning it).
They sound like lovely hamsters and so nice they are related!
I would think at 8 weeks it would be fine to have a wheel as they are mostly fully grown. Maybe Mocho is ready for it if he is monkey-barring!

Congrats to both of you on the new hams!
If Mocho is 8 weeks I would definitely put the wheel in the cage, he must have lots of energy to burn off at that age & is plenty old enough to use one I would have thought.

Aww Mocho and Jarvis sound lovely. I think Mocho is definitely ready for his wheel if he's already monkey-barring lol.
Looking forward to the photos

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Thank you everyone for the wheel advice. When Mocho is awake I will rearrange his cage. If I take out the pink shelf that will stop him getting to his favourite bar chewing spot.
Since my zooplus order arrived he now has a guinea pig sized 2 level house behind where he is on the bars. Also I had to buy a classic water bottle as that Savic bottle was empty every morning and the Fitch underneath soaked.
He is choosing to nest in a large cardboard tube and appears to like an en suite bathroom as one end may be damp. Can't find any other pee spot so will check that later.
Problems problems!

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
He is beautiful! And they're adorable perky ears! It's a sign he's happy when they perk up. Charlie's ears looked big when he was smaller too. He looks like he's saying 'can I come out now?' lol.
Coco you could try putting the cardboard tube over the door of the house, like a kind of tunnel entrance, then maybe he'd move his nest inside the house (the tube over the door would make it darker inside. I might be an idea to put a potty tray inside the house though or it'll get wee stained.
