Re: Introducing kenneth!
So cheeky chappy Kenny got his own way, I always fall for I'm so cute too lol!
Maybe him chewing the cage was to do with him not getting out earlier. He might've thought this was his new routine and expressed not getting out by bar chewing.
Good on you for not giving in, they hate being ignored and will soon realise they don't always win. I've had cage bar chewers and I'm strict about that.

Re: Introducing kenneth!
He was ok last night but right now he's munching the bars again, don't know what's got in to him! He's stopped running in his wheel and has taken up full time bar biting. Aaargh!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
Kenny is still bar chewing! I've stuffed cardboard in his favourite spots but he soon chomps it and gets back to the bars. His brand new Trixie wheel is arriving on Friday so I hope that will cheer him up!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
When bar chewing gets extreme, I use a small bendy bridge with clips at the top and attached it to the cage, I've done that with Harvey, he now tackles that instead. There's a certain part of the cage bars that he chews and the noise was echoing and with the thick cardboard he ripped it up into little pieces, so I opted for the bendy bridge and it has worked.
You can also attach it with plastic cable ties.

Re: Introducing kenneth!
Ooh thanks Thin Lizzy, that might be worth a try. His Trixie wheel arrived today in the post earlier than expected and I managed to get to the shops and get him a Whimzee chew, can't wait for him to wake up and try them out!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
The Whimzee is a success! He's given it quite a good chew. Whoop! He's still sleepy and not fully up yet so hopefully he'll have another try with it later. Trixie wheel has been ignored so far but I'm remaining hopeful!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
Update: he's up and about now and running in his new Trixie, he seems to like it so far and is having a great workout! I'm so proud of little Kenneth!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
Wow, it looks like Kenny has been quite busy lately - wonderful playtime (with poop explosion included), bar chewing frenzy, good chew on the whimzee, and laps on the Trixie wheel! Hopefully the bar chewing will just be a phase, and he will be distracted with his whimzee, bendy bridges, and Trixie wheel. He sure is a silly ham, and I just love him!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
He's a silly ham indeed Dreamtree! Which makes him all the more adorable. Mr Turrican looked at tbe Trixie wheel and laughed and said it looks like a car spare wheel sitting in his cage! Lol. Kenny is quiet and sleepy tonight, only poked his head out briefly so far and then gone back to sleep, I hope he's ok and just worn out from all the running yesterday!

Re: Introducing kenneth!
Not a great picture but here's one from yesterday of Kenny doing his hamlympics training. He says he hasn't decided yet though if he wants to be a long distance runner or a sprinter. I told him he has potential in both events!
