Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Your vet sounds nice. The last one I saw knew her stuff (I think) but don't think she would laugh! All very serious.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
He'll be getting on for 2 now won't he? I think it's always on our minds, when they near that age, that some medical issue will come along. But the idea of tumours is always not what you want to hear.

Indeed he is getting close to two years old at my best estimate.
Yesterday before the vet visit his weight was down to 183g weighed him today and it has dropped to 178g he is trying to eat his fresh foods still, he doesn't touch his hamster mix he did take a tiny bit of yoghurt today, but at this rate it isn't going to be long before he is gone across the bridge and he lives up to his name. I am sad and yet angry at the same time.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
I am sorry. I hope he lives life to the full while he can. I can remember feeling very sad when I found Nugget's lumps - horrible.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Would it help to crush and soften his main hamster mix to help him eat it? Perhaps Mrs Rads has a pestle and mortar or similar that would do the job. Or just two spoons. Once crushed, then just soften/moisten it to help. Or a little porridge might be better. Porridge and fresh veg were the last foods Mocho managed.
So sorry Rads. It's a hard time.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Update time,
Ghost is still fighting, he seems to have started reusing his toilet, he is eating more from his hamster mix, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and fresh veggies and a little fresh banana too.
His weight is still falling yesterday post wash he was 164g, you can see how much he has lost, which is rather heart breaking but he is warm ,comfortable and everything is on one level and close to his nest bunker.
Here are some photos from his last good times to how he is now. That was a space approx. 21days...!
He is not in pain or obvious distress, as soon as he his then our vet will prioritise a visit for him to be pts as love as we do, we will not lot him be distressed or in pain, right now he is eating, sleeping etc and I would prefer him to pass naturally in his home surroundings instead of a vets consulting room in a box.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Oh Rads the side by side comparison really shows how much weight poor Ghost has lost.
You are doing a great job of doing what is best for him.
I'm pleased that he has regained some of his appetite and toileting function and to hear that he isn't in pain.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Oh Rads, those photos do bring home just how much weight Ghost has lost. No wonder you are finding this such a difficult time. Bless him for fighting on in his own way. That is a good mix of food he is eating. Everything close to hand for him is best as you have done. A peaceful and dignified end in his own nest is what we all want for our little ones.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Have had to schedule an appointment for Ghost at the vets to be pts they can't see him till tomorrow so if he survives till then, he has really gone downhill rapidly in the last 12 hours one of his eyes has crusted over as well in that short time and he can barely move, I am going to clean him up as best as I can and hope he passes away naturally in his nest.
