It does sound like quite a lot of weight to lose but if he's fine in himself it could just be the time of year Rads, they do sometimes put more weight on over winter & lose a bit in summer, when did he start losing weight?

Cypher,
Going back through my posts Ghost was at his heaviest weigh in 18/03 when he was 210g now three months later he is down to 179g, in three weeks he has dropped 11g weighed 190g on 31/05.
I know that weights fluctuate etc but not by such an extent, I will keep a very close eye on him and if his weight has gone even more in the next week, then he will be off to the vets for a check up.

He has no signs of any illness, growths, etc his coat is in good condition eyes are bright, he is eating as normal as far as I can see. he is happily sleeping under a huge pile of substrate.

I think that's all you can do when there's nothing else wrong & if nothing in his diet has changed then I think you can only keep an eye on him & see how he goes, hopefully he's fine & there's nothing underlying the loss.

Have booked Ghost an appointment with the vets tomorrow afternoon just to be on the safe side methinks.

I've just been having a quick catch up on Ghost's thread, what a lovely boy! I hope all goes well at the vet and that his weight loss is nothing to worry about.

So Ghost has had his vets visit,
The vet was impressed with his lordship, who couldn't have cared less for the vet and set about wandering and exploring, she could not find anything wrong with him that could explain his weight loss at all, teeth fine, skin fine, no lumps and bumps that shouldn't be there etc, she even asked a colleague for a second opinion who when she came into the consulting room laughed loudly as by then Ghost had climbed up me and was sitting on my shoulder washing himself..!
Both vets said he was a very well adjusted fellow and clearly very well looked after and at his new weight of 179g on our scales and 183g on theirs was really at an ideal weight, both voiced the opinion that it was very possibly a natural occurrence , even though there has been no change of diet etc.

Have been advised to weigh him weekly for a month and if the weight loss continues then to go back.

Well that is a relief Rads. Worth it for the peace of mind. Glad all is ok with Ghost and I love that he went up onto your shoulder at the vet to have a wash. No wonder they had a good laugh.

I'm so glad that both vets said Ghost looks perfectly healthy. That is a great relief. I also laughed that Ghost was on your shoulder washing when the second vet came in the room. It is lovely that he made himself right at home on you even at a vet office, lol. He really is quite the silly and adorable ham.
