Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Ghost on guard is adorable! Newt is also hardly seen these days - they hide away in their house when it's cold. I've got in the habit of tempting him out in a tube with a treat in every few days and once out he enjoys exploring the sofa and the cosy warmth of the living room I found this with our last Syrian as well - they hide away more in winter and come out more in warmer weather.
Noticeably if Newt's room is really warm he comes out more! So I have the heating timed with his feed time now!

BP, I think you are right as Ghost moves his sand around and makes a huge pile on one side of his sand pit.
Serendipity,
We keep the house on a minimum of 18C, when I woke him up at 03.30 this morning for his yogurt he looked so sleepy, but lapped his yoggy with much vigour then snatched a giant raisin from my fingers and went back to bed..

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Hey all,
Update on Ghost still the same mostly staying in his bed though don't blame him with all this snow..!
Caught him last night after one of his crazy digging sessions in his deep sand pit and weighed him, Mr Ghost weighed in at 210g, which is getting a bit porky though I suspect that is from a lack of exercise I don't think I over feed him but you never know..

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
I couldn't help laughing at the thought of Ghost digging down to reach Australia, 210g isn't porky at all Rads, Ghost wears his weight well.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Thanks TL,
So I get home from work at my normal time about 3.30am, walk into the lounge and was hit by an intense smell of ammonia/pee.
I checked on Ghost and the smell was enimating from his cage, so removed his house and found it sodden with pee, and his stash was also wet with pee, so a major clean out was initiated, I found this a tad strange as he uses his sand pit to pee in all the time, his last spot clean showed his nest was dry and free from pee..
Not having anything to use as a new house for him I used a couple of bendy bridges as a temp home, Ghost in his normal way wasn't too happy and had a strop, he has ignored the bendy bridge temp home and has dug himself a nest under his edible bridge..
I'm off now for a week so I can keep an eye on him and his behaviour..

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Maybe he was getting lazy in the cold weather & didn't want to get up for a pee or was it a lot more pee than usual?
If you do get him another wooden house at some point it really is worth painting it with plastikote water based enamel you can just wipe it down then if it gets peed on.

Cypher,
It did look like more pee than normal, though it is a little difficult to be precise, he uses the sand pit on a regular basis as it is easy to see where he has used it, he hasn't drunk any more than normal though he would get his hydration from the fresh veg etc he has daily.
I agree that he is probably lazy, so much so that he hardly uses his wheel now.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
It can be hard to tell sometimes especially on substrate rather than in sand, it most probably is laziness but might be worth keeping an eye on just in case there's something wrong. Hopefully not!

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
As things go with Ghost I am estimating he is sleeping 22-23hrs per day, he is eating ok has his fresh food daily etc, I always leave his long Whimzee over his food bowl and each day it has been moved so he is going into his dry food.
His general health looks good, his fur is in lovely condition. May be he is just totally bone idle, who knows.
