Re: Eevee's Evolution!
The cat thing is really your decision, but hamsters are very sensitive to smell and even the small of Oscar could make Eevee always just a little stressed. You may not be able to tell thus by looking at her, but living like this constantly could lead to problems as hamsters are prone to stress caused illnesses.

Re: Eevee's Evolution!
I agree with AprilPearl, it's going to be your decision with the cat. It really would be best to keep your ham in a quieter room, where both she and the cat are away from one another. However, if you really have no other choice, you'll just have to take steps to reinforce it. I have two hunting dogs in my home, and they absolutely despise my hamsters I do everything in my power to keep them seperated for the sake of my dogs and my hamsters! Good luck, and if you ever have any other questions, please ask

Re: Eevee's Evolution!
Thanks all, Eevee seems to be quite confident in herself when she's awake which is a positive! Struts her stuff around the cage.
HAMMY HOARD
I took a trip to The Range in Cardiff to see if they had any hamster items, I read somewhere that they don't have a good selection but I was surprised to be honest. More things I wanted to pick up than from Pets @ Home and at a fraction of the price!
Here's a bunch of things I picked up for Eevee, her new cage will have loads of room for it all. For now the straw nesting tunnel will have to go into storage!
I was hoping she'd sleep in the Wigwam but he just nibbled at it and sleeps under the bridge, ah well atleast she is sleeping somewhere haha!
1 - Comfy Caves Beny Bridge £3.99
2 - Small Willow Wigwam £1.99
3 - Oblong Nest £1.99
4 - Fruit Snack Rollinis 69p
Pretty darn good prices if I say so myself! In Pets @ Home it would've easily mounted to £15+

Re: Eevee's Evolution!
That's such a relief about the cat being kept away and that you have a lock on the door.
I'm sure Eevee will love her shopping.

Re: Eevee's Evolution!
I currently don't have any hamsters, but when I did they was no issue with them and my cat. I owned a tank and a bin cage, both were always securely locked. My cat isn't like most though, he was actually terrified of the first hamster I brought home, even though she was only about 2-3 inches (she was a Roborovski). After he was sure that she wasn't going to break out of the tank and attack him, he fell in love and would watch her all the time. He would come up to the tank and press a paw to the glass, she would notice him there and come over to place her paws on the other side. None of my hamsters were ever stressed with him around, even when he'd jump on top of the tank topper, most of them just ignored him. My cat grew very protective and chased out any of my parents cats that came in my room if they so much as looked at the hamsters funny, which was unusual since he's a coward most of the time. He mourned when that first hamster died and when the other did too.
But like I said, my cat is very different than most. If you want to try having the cats in the same room as Eevee once she is in the new cage and you have determined it's secure, try it slowly and closely monitored to see how the cats react. Watch both the cats' body language and the hamster's for any bad signs. If everything does works out, never let the cats in the room when you have Eevee out of the cage for whatever reason. I trust my cat a lot, but even then I never let him stay in the room when I had the cages open for cleaning or when I had them out for play time.

Re: Eevee's Evolution!
I've been quiet on here because of work, we're working on a pretty cool kids TV show at the moment!
Eevee is such a confident little lady, recently got her a vivarium which is setup. We're waiting on extra vents, a shelf and some perspex for it to be complete.
Here's some snaps of her enjoying a bit of mushroom!
