Re: New Syrian Hamster
He looks amazing, that's some coat he has!
I don't think you will be able to get a larger wheel into that cage tbh, the wheel is too small & it's better that he doesn't use it as it could hurt his back, even a young syrian needs a wheel that is at least 20cm & most need larger than that (even up to 30cm for a large syrian) when fully grown so you will probably need to look for a larger cage soon.
The cage size must mean you can't get much enrichment into the cage which might explain why he's biting at the bars on top, whimzees are good for them to chew on but I suspect he will need more space so he has more to do & more substrate to dig around in soon.
If you do go for a larger cage so you can fit in a big enough wheel I would go for one without a spindle as he may get that long coat caught up in a spindle, either the wooden trixie wheel or the silent runner would probably be most suitable.

I'm not even sure if I can get a bigger wheel that fits in the prefixed shape of this cage. Anyone with savic cages know anything about this?
Last night Weasley started biting the top grills in his cage. If you guys know how he cage looks like I got it because most of the cage is just acrylic without grills, just the top part where I can open it to refill his food and water. I thought he needed something to chew on, so I attached a stick I bought from the pet shop and attached to to the grill to let him gnaw his teeth into it. Is this right?
Thanks for the help so far <3 really appreciate it

I was just posting exactly what Cypher said - the size and the spindle.
What do they say? "Great minds think alike, or fools never differ" Ha ha ha.
I would really recommend the Trixie Wooden Wheel - 29cms. It's really quiet as well.

Re: New Syrian Hamster
I have a trixie wooden wheel for one of my long haired hamsters and a silent runner for one of the others. They are both great wheels.

Re: New Syrian Hamster
Weasley is very cute. I'd suggest the 12 inch silent runner for a wheel. You can even attach it to the bars with the cage attachment.
Silent Runner 12" regular wheel | South West Sugar Gliders
Silent Runner Cage Attachment | South West Sugar Gliders
It really would be worth getting a bigger cage, simply do that he could have a large enough wheel.
I expect one of the reasons why he is chewing is because he is bored and his wheel is too small for him so he cannot run properly in it. When I first got my Quigley he was only 5 weeks old and his breeder said I shouldn't give him his wheel until he was 8-9 weeks. Well, despite having a huge cage and lots of toysvQuigley chewed the bars non stop those first few wheel less weeks. Then, I put in his wheel when he was old enough and since getting it he has not chewed once.

Re: New Syrian Hamster
As the wheel is too small. You could remove it and the green hide it attaches to. Without that to climb on he may not be able to reach the bars.
A bigger cage will be best as it would allow a big wheel and extra space for Syrian sized toys etc.
Loving his long fur.

Re: New Syrian Hamster
I agree with the advice the others have given.
Weasley's long coat is stunning! He's such a beauty!

Re: New Syrian Hamster
He's a very handsome boy, congrats on him. Love his name too
You will need a 12 inch wheel for a Syrian, that one definitely looks too small for him.
I don't know much about the cage I'm afraid so I had to google it and if I'm looking at the right one it is very small. Are you able to get a larger cage for him? It's likely he is biting the grill because his wheel is too small (and possibly his cage).
Adding a treat stick would be fine and most tend to like whimzee dog chews to chew on too, but I think you're priority should be a larger wheel for him and cage. I'm not sure where you are based but perhaps if you let us know someone may be able to suggest something
ETA: Oops I've just repeated what everyone else has said as I forgot to turn the page before responding, oh well. Hopefully you can never have too much of the same advice lol

Re: New Syrian Hamster
hi guys! sorry for the superrrrr delayed update, Ive been really busy with school. I got weasly a larger cage and a larger wheel! even bought him sticks to chew o nwhen hes bored sometimes when i open the top of the cage he would look at me and just stare until i let him climb up on my hand haha. Thanks for the advice! It really made it better for him and im glad hes doing better now. I live in Singapore, and the pet stores are constantly promoting their in house brand 'Burp' as the top food mix for hamsters. I decided to make the switch from Burp to Vitakraft as I found out that Burp mixes aren't very nutritious sigh..
