Aww bless Quigley, comforting you when you got upset about Mushu. They are great in sensing when something's wrong and always know how to help. Cooling the mug in the fridge is a great way to keep your very handsome man cool. Gorgeous pics, he's so fluffy & charming.

Must have been very worrying seeing Quigley lying on his shelf after you were babysitting again. But all was well xxx He really does have the most adorable face and I have also fallen for him He likes the cool mug. He maybe wouldn't have run in the wheel anyway if he was too hot. They seem quite sensible about avoiding things when they're hot. Newtie didn't use the wheel in his playpen and just sat in his ceramic hide when it was so hot. Last night, now it's cooled down, he was running for England in it lol. He also hasn't blocked his house door up again yet - maybe he realises it lets the air in.

I love the photo of him eating in your hand. I can't believe it's a week either.

Oh, Quigley how adorable you are, little fluffball! It's so nice of him to comfort you! Marti was very sad to hear about Mushu since she considered him husband material despite the satin gene. But we're very happy that you now have little Quigley!
I just adore the photo you've submitted for this month's contest, he looks like such an adorable little old man while grooming. I love the photos of him cooling in the mug, he's such a cutie! I'm sorry that you're having to deal with the heat. I hope it will pass soon and your little guy will be able to safely play to his tiny heart's content without worrying about overheating!

Love those photos of Quigley enjoying his cool mug. He must have really appreciate that in this recent warm weather.
Its lovely that Quigley comforted you when you were upset about Mushu - it lovely when they do this.
Can't believe you have only had him a week as to me it feels like you have had him longer than that.

Catching up with Quigley! Wow, I read the posts day by day, but now that I'm watching them all together I realize that I should log in more often!! He has done so many things since the last time that I entered!

I'm glad he enjoyed his kale, spaguetti, banana chips, and peas. He looks so cute eating peas!! Don't worry if he didn't like mealworms, I think that most syrians don't. It is a pitty that he didn't like red pepper, maybe next time he will give it a second opportunity.

I'm sorry that you had so many problems with his chewing habit. I hope it is getting better

he looks very cute in his terracota pot, and it looks like his fur is growing a lot!

Oh, I'm so glad that the weather is cooling down a bit for you. I know that you must be so very relieved.

I absolutely LOVE, Quigley. I found myself glancing at all of his adorable pics from beginning to end once again because there were no additional ones posted since the last time I checked and I just couldn't get enough of his cuteness. I needed to be sure that I was able to see his charming self again today. He totally has me under his spell - I am totally head over heals with this precious one. Cuddles to you, Quigley.

Thank you everyone I'm having a lot of fun with him!

Serendipity yes it was very scary. Especially after a Mushu, I get very anxious about Quigley's well being.

Burakki and ThinLizzy and SKB thank you Quigley has been a huge comfort to me. I can't help still being upset over Mushu, but having Quiggy does give me a purpose.

Hamsterita and Cypher I struggled not to laugh at him grooming in that mug as it wobbled every time he moved!

dreamtree sorry not to have been updating as much. Mostly, it's been because I have been spending most of the time playing with him and it's hard to take photos when your hands are full of hamster! Also, I feel bad for spamming you guys with pictures.

Well, Quigley almost gave me a heart attack last night - or, early this morning, actually. As you may remember, in an effort to defend against his bar chewing, I had tied bendy bridges to the bars of his cage. The left hand platform looked like this:

After my last night vision camera broke (after only one week!), I got a refund and bought a camera of a different make. This morning, I looked at the live video feed on my ipad and to my horror I saw this.

The two little pin pricks of light are his eyes - as you can see, Quigley was sitting ON TOP of the bendy bridge attached to the bars in the back left hand corner of his cage:

He then proceeded to climb on top of the toy next to it (which I had purchased because I thought the sides of it looked like bars and therefore he might want to gnaw it).

At this point, my brain was screaming "FALL HAZARD! FALL HAZARD!" So, I went right in there and removed ALL the bendy bridges tied to the bars - plus the toy that he used standing on in the second photo.

Quigley seemed very happy to see me. He sat and let me stroke him on his platform. Tediously, however, he was sitting right next to a bendy bridge and didn't move so that I could remove it, so I had to kind of lift it over him. When all the bendy bridges were gone, I scooped him up off the platform for a cuddle and gave him a pumpkin seed to say sorry for ruining his fun!

I actually think Quigley isn't chewing the bars anymore and has not done since he was moved out of my room. I have been watching him on the night vision camera, you see. So, either he has grown out of it, or it's something that he only does when he knows there are people in the room because he wants to be taken out.

On a totally unrelated note, here is a picture of Quigley with his first green bean from a few nights ago. He had a nibble but soon rejected it. To be honest, he is quite happy with being fed pieces of mix as treats - funny boy!
