Re: Quigley
I'd try adding more sand then.Dog bowls in 7.5 to around 8 or 9 cm height sizes tend to be widely available though if you're worried about containing the sand as much as possible. It's fine if a bit gets scattered into the cage which will happen anyways, but you could keep that bowl as a playpen sand bath and just keep it at the same depth as well as having a separate dog bowl for the cage(just make sure there's no rubber on it if you must use stainless steel).

Re: Quigley
I use a food bowl that has a flat bottom. It's not big but Heaven circles around in it like a dog till she finds a good spot to pee. So that convenient for me

Re: Quigley
Lovely photos of Quigley stuffing his pouches with his treats - he looked very happy! He looks so adorable in those photos!
It was also so sweet watching Quigley having lots of fun in his sand bath!

Re: Quigley
Hope you can find a bowl or something deep enough. Quigley did seem to enjoy the sand.

Re: Quigley
A bowl! That’s it! CMB you are a genius, thank you I can use a regular ceramic cereal bowl! That should be deep enough. Will give it a go. He can climb in if I put a bendy bridge nex to it. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that solution before.

Re: Quigley
Ceramic cereal bowls come in a variety of sizes and depths. In hot weather you could also chill the bowl/sand.

Re: Quigley
Thanks CMB we shall see if it works.
Toby2017 lovely to hear from you. Quigley sends his thanks. I like rescuing pets, too. Both my cats are rescued and one of my past hams was rescued. However, I find that rescued hamsters tend to be older and since hamsters have such short lives in the first place I generally tend to buy them as babies because I get completely heartbroken broken when pets die. That is also why I went for a breeder ham this time around, to minimise any potential health issues. Sounds as though perhaps Toby is going to be a look don't touch ham, but well done for sticking with him. You can still have lots of fun with him. If you haven't already, try him in a playpen. You can get enjoyment out of watching him explore and even sit in there with him. Once he is used to you, he may even try climbing on you which will help you two bond.
This is the best playpen I have found:

Re: Quigley
Quigley sure looks like he loves playing in all that sand. Have fun finding the perfect sandbath container.

Re: Quigley
Try and get the deepest bowl. I so look forward to seeing Quigley rolling in the sand.

Re: Quigley
I always watch Quigleys' videos on my phone but I can't see the pics without logging in. It was nice to catch up with his thread and be able to watch his pics. It's amazing how long is his fur.
I'm glad that he is growing and everything is going ok.
His last video with the sand was amazing btw!
