So, here are some more photos of Marti. Both new and old.
She continues to amaze us with her energy and sociability. She seems to want to do everything with humans. She even watches tv with us! Or listens to it. Whenever we watch a movie, she does her business, runs in the wheel or rearranges stuff in her cage. But if we pause the movie to do something, she goes to check the tv from her cage, as if making sure that it is on. Then she looks at us, as if asking why did we stop it. It's so funny!
She also is extremely organized! My mom says that she is probably German because she likes things to be in order. For example, I made her one of those toys with food inside out of toilet paper roll. She took the food out and then brought the toy to her bowl and put it inside. Because food must be with food! If I give her a treat, she would eat a bit and take the rest to her bowl as well. She once woke my mom up because she was trying to drag a pretty big toy-treat through the tube to her nest but it kept slipping from her grasp and fall on the floor. But she succeeded after a few minutes! So, we don't even have to worry about mess. She is neater and tidier than some people!)))

Marti when we just brought her home. So tiny!

Trying to catch her favorite treat.

She is absolutely stunning! Her colouring is so delicate and feminine somehow. Is it bad that when I saw such a lovely female long haired hamster, my mind immediately went: "she and Mushu would make beautiful babies! What would they be called... The Mushinas?"?

Edit: Actually, I just saw it says that Marti is a satin on her Instagram. Mushu is a satin too, and obviously breeding satin with satin is a big no no, so the Mushinas could never be!

AprilPearl when I saw Mushu I also immediately thought that his and Marti's babies would be very cute, but the satin gene is a problem))) So, it's forbidden love) Though both parties are unaware

Rads, I'm already following you

emojimom, Hamsterita, she is a little person))

Wonderful pictures of Marti - I especially like the photos of her eating and when she was a baby. Its lovely that she enjoys listening to the TV whilst keeping herself busy in her cage - its so cute how she reacts when you stop the TV.
Its so sweet that she is a very organised and tidy hamster.

BP, she's trying to do everything humans do for sure!

SKB, yesterday she even started dozing off while watching TV from her cage))

So, Marti decided to play on my nerves yesterday...
She and I have this game when I let her play on my sofa and she "digs" tunnels in the blanket that I use to cover with on cold days. It's dark and soft, so I think Marti sees it as ground. Yesterday she was playing in it, I could feel her climbing around my feet, I was monitoring the edges of the blanket to see if she peeks out. Suddenly I heard the sounds of nails sliding across the sofa. I looked on the floor to see if she somehow got down but I didn't see her. I checked the blanket to see if she was still inside, but she wasn't! I didn't panic because I know that she is one tricky hamster. She had managed to get off the sofa a couple times before and usually she just stuck around it, sniffing it and everything close by. I went around the sofa, fully expecting her to be there but she wasn't! Still, not panicking I checked behind the sofa pillows which are her new favorite place, but she wasn't there as well. Then my mom and I got worried. We started looking under and behind the furniture but couldn't see anything. I realized that the door to the entrance hall and kitchen was open and went to close it so that she could not escape the room. We continued to look for her but she was nowhere to find! My mom was full on panicking while I was very confused. Marti is not the type of hamster to hide away and refuse to come out! The times when I let her roam free around the room (under my supervision), she was happily running around, exploring everything. Like I had already said, when she managed to climb off the couch she would also explore. I could not understand why would she hide now. She never hid from us, even on her very first day with us. She never feared humans! I put her favorite treats on the floor, which she usually jumps over her head to get, but she was not appearing. I honestly didn't know what to think. Grasping the last straw, I decided to check the kitchen and entrance hall in case she had managed to escape before I closed the door. So I go to the kitchen and what I see - Marti is happily trotting from the kitchen towards me! I immediately picked her up and she didn't even try to object. She was slightly dusty, looking pretty shocked from her successful escape but very proud of herself nonetheless. I cleaned her from the dust, gave her a thousand kisses and told her off for scaring us like that. The little rascal managed to get across the room to the door without anyone noticing in the first minutes the door was open! I guess she's lucky her fur is almost the same color as our floors and carpet... I swear, my next hamster will be white! Or my next carpet... XD

Oh Marti, you cheeky girl! Sorry she gave you such a fright, but I am so glad you found her speedily. I have the same problem seeing Mushu on the floor as he is almost the exact same colour as the wood.

Your story of Marti’s “escape” reminded me of the one and only time my first hamster escaped - though he got out of his cage. We actually found him before we realised he was missing. I walked into the room where his cage was and saw him plodding over to me, bold as can be.
