Newt is one smart hamster - he must have burrowed under the blanket and then under the door to the kitchen. He does love an adventure in there. His speed is impressive at his age. TWO on Sunday, great day for a rather special litter of hammies from Custard!

It is Newt's second birthday today Along with all his brothers and sisters from Souffle's Halluperts litter.

Made him a little cake - banana and walnut cake with banana and yoghurt topping. Got him up a bit earlier than usual today at 4pm so stepson could see him having his cake. Newt ate a little bit but then wanted to go back to bed and went back in his snooze cube - I don't think he was quite ready to get up! He also got a present - a new sisal tube and explored that.

Having been woken up at such an unusual hour, I thought Newt did really well in the video of his birthday cake, even if he did need some encouragement. He will be back for more when he is wide awake. Like his sisal tunnel- good prezzie.
