It wasn't too bad Coco - I knew I would find him - those rooms are hamsterproof - but it could have meant moving an awful lot of stuff Maybe he just headed back to his cage. But I take back any idea that he is getting slower. He can move very fast when he wants and now he knows the room layout! On the level anyway. Nice that he's having a bit of fun though. Must shut the inner doors next time though. Mind you he is a sucker for anything edible so could have been tempted out I reckon.

Aww heck, Newt's antics so made me laugh, he's gotten really cheeky with his escaping and has definitely been keeping you on your toes. I laughed so much at his photos especially him playing the harmonica, him climbing down from the chair with his gorgeous bottom sticking up and out for all to see and him roaming out of his cage. I can't believe he's almost 2, he looks so young and is very active. Newt's a little dazzler.

Thanks TL. Yes he gets faster by the minute! Started letting him roam the living room because he seemed slower and less active but now he is incredibly fast lol! He didn’t come out for 5 days because I cleaned out his potty area in his house. Did it again last night and got him out then. He now heads straight for the kitchen door - as in under it - so need a sausage doorstop or to hamster proof the kitchen.

Newtie has been out a bit this evening. He's been a bit awol recently - partly the cold weather I think and partly he doesn't like me cleaning out his toilet. So had to coax him out tonight, but he had a nice cuddle and a run on the sofa and a bit on the floor and some snacks. I decided to give him a bit of Nugget's Country Hunter beefy dog food (for Nugget's Baytril disguise) as a treat. Newt - who will scoff anything and everything - didn't like it and spat it out again! Just hope he never has to have Baytril then - although he is easier to pick up and hold.

Newt's behaviour with the beef is just so funny. And you thought it was a new treat for him!

I know it was funny - the look on his face! His usual gimme gimme excited look - a lick and then a confused look - then a bite of it then a mixed kind of ooer look then eventually spat it out. Poor Newtie - he is used to eating human food!

lol at Newt and the beef. Not shy of letting you know what he likes and dislikes.

Thank you TL. Newt only comes out once or twice a week at the moment. Last night he had a good run around the living room and then a short highly supervised time in the kitchen where he eats the crumbs off the floor! I know there is nothing there that he shouldn't eat - it's the area where the breadcrumbs end up on the floor from the bread board. I always do a bit of handling on the sofa as well but he doesn't stay on the sofa long and is an expert spiderham at climbing down it upside down. He gets a bit of time back on the sofa before he goes back in his cage, for some hand feeding and is a little hoover still. Had some pumpkin seeds from my hand then stuck his head in the bag and filled his pouches!

I have a separate bag for Nugget so Newt can stick his head in this bag. He's had a couple of Rodipet treats in his cage that came free with a food delivery - they must taste weird because he ignores them! Have often found that with their treats!

He does like the little banana and strawberry ones but not the bigger ones.

So - we started the free roaming in the living room because Newt seemed to be a bit slower now he is older. Ha! He is not slow in the slightest. He now has a cheeky game. If I look away for him for even a second, he shoots off towards the kitchen door behind the sofa - and he's so fast that he is in the kitchen before I have seen where he has gone.

So the other night when he was out I blocked the gap under the kitchen door with a blanket. Followed Newt around the living room but looked away for literally a second - and he was gone again. Crawled around on my knees looking under the sofa etc and he wasn't there. Waited for him to appear for a minute and he didn't. So I looked in the kitchen and there he was - sitting under the table. Just sitting looking at me as if to say - yah boo sucks I got under the door again.

But he sits there and waits for me and happily lets me pick him up. It was the same the day he went into the room with his cage - he just sat there looking at me.

So it's a game - come and find me! Living room is hamster proofed - kitchen is as well but too many things to get behind if he decided to go there - but I will need to do a bit more as the kitchen door is not hamsterproof even with a blanket stuffed under it!
