Newt continues to be adventurous out of the cage and enjoys exploring (with me on my knees behind him and various areas blocked off). He had a good roam around this evening on Christmas day - video to follow - along with his party trick

For now here are two photos. The first is an out-take from the musical instrument competition (looks like he's playing the harmonica).

The second was tonight (a bit blurred) showing how he gets off the sofa - he slides down the fleece blanket on the sofa. On the chair he climbs down the throw upside down.

So here is Newt on Christmas Day The first video is Newt's "thing" he does - the first time I ever held him at Souffle's when I collected him he did this and disappeared behind me and had to be "found" before he disappeared! He has never been one for sitting still for long. When you sit him in the crook of your arm he pushes down in the elbow bend until he pushes himself out, as if going down a snug tunnel. The first time stepson saw this he thought it was hilarious and said it looked like I was giving birth to a hamster! (I have no idea how he knows what giving birth looks like! TV presumably). Excuse the way I pick him up from the top sometimes, but he's used to me and doesn't mind

So here he is

This second little video is after he got down onto the floor and having a bit of an explore. Don't worry about him eating bits off the floor - the floor had been thoroughly hoovered and there were just a few crumbs from our tea which I knew were ok for him to eat (I'm paranoid about not letting him near anything if people have been eating chocolate!)

Thank you Soufflé and Sasha . It’s funny, for the first year, he was too scared to go anywhere near the edge of the sofa and quite cautious. Now he’s older he doesn’t seem scared of anything so have to keep an eye on him! The

Yes still have a foot problem Soufflé. Did my knee recently as well!

Lovely to see Newt in action. It's funny how they like to 'burrow' under an arm, or behind a cushion on a sofa. Newt is quite adventurous when he gets going. He really likes his outing and clearly has his favourite routes and places. Maestro would be a bit fast for me if he was free ranging!

Thank you Coco and Drago Yes Newt would have been too fast to let loose in his first year as well. He’s still pretty fast when he runs now which is why I’m on the floor nearby! Luckily he mostly sniffs and explores and is quite comfortable with everything so pointless more now. But have to block a few areas off to be in the safe side.
