Thank you Ruth. He does know how handsome he is - I keep telling him Yes I also thought he might need another wheel lol. Shame I can't fit his flying saucer in there too.

Newtie has certainly been a very busy boy indeed with his fitch mountains. Just love his face in those photos with his lovely big ears up!

Thank you Coco Yes butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. He actually is very sweet though. Yes his ears are quite perky aren't they! I checked the photos again.

Aww he looks very cute in those pics Serendipity

I've heard all about these fitch mountains but I've never seen one in my own hamster's cages, until last night/ Poor Sparky had built such a mound that he couldn't run in his wheel and he kept looking at us to fix it

Wow, what a busy boy Newtie has been, lol! He certainly loves to burrow and create impressive fitch mountains. I had to giggle at him jamming up his wheel as Eros does that on a regular basis, too. It is one of the games that we play here, too. I move the mountain slightly with her looking unimpressed just for her to rebuild instantly, lol. What fun!!! Newtie's pics look so adorable! He certainly is such a cutiepie! I love his innocent expressions and large, perking up ears, too!

Thank you dreamtree He seems to be nesting under the house and the wheel lol. The mountain is the kicked out Fitch from his burrow, then he has a network under the house, coming up in his nest room and hoards in all the other rooms including in his potty. So the house is just his larder at the moment. I've got a new plastic potty as the ceramic one sinks when he goes through his tunnel and I'm a bit worried it might be a bit heavy.

Just so Newtie doesn't feel left out by the arrival of Nugget Here he is having a wash last night - I like his little face popping up behind the tube at the end And a couple of photos - he was moving quite fast so one is a bit blurry and the other from the back! I think he looks a bit bigger - must weigh him again.

Aww Newtie, I don't think he needs to worry about feeling left out when he looks as cute as that

Thank you BP. Newtie is now 192g. I weighed him last night. I am beginning to regret changing his house lol. Although he has a great time tunneling under it, he has got extremely possessive about his Fitch mountain at the side of the house which blocks the wheel and stops it turning. Also I think he is getting a bit untame and not so easy to tempt out of the cage or hold. Last night I had to move the Fitch mountain slightly and unblock the wheel and he came out and glared at me and frantically pushed it all back again, blocking the wheel again! I moved a little bit again and spun the wheel to show him - it works now! Then had him in the playpen for a bit where he got weighed and used the other wheel. Later he was using the wheel in his cage. I don't think he has made the connection between the Fitch pile and the wheel not working!

So either I'll need to move the house, or move the wheel, or lower the house (that would destroy his tunnels ) He still uses the potty in the house, but basically lives underneath it. I think I would rather have him tame and he seemed quite happy before with a house on the floor of the cage.
