Re: Newt's thread
He might respond better to early waking again when it's cooled down a bit Serendipity, mine haven't wanted to come out & do anything & have been getting up later while it's been so hot, Zylvan did get up a bit early yesterday but just wanted to chill in his sand bath!
lol! at him sitting in your armpit Zen does that & it really tickles

Re: Newt's thread
Thank you Drago, Dreamtree and Cypher The heat is a very good point. Newtie just sat in his playpen even late last night and didn't run in his wheel - suprisingly he wasn't seeking out the cool places in his cage, but I think he will be a bit cooler now there's some air getting through the door in his house (and he hasn't rebuilt the Fitch mountain in front of it!)
Dreamtree - such lovely kind words - thank you.
Not sure if the potty will work as his hoard seemed to be under his toilet corner! I moved the hoard slightly away and put the potty in the toilet corner. It wasn't particularly smelly though - I think he had been cleaning it out himself as there was some whiffy substrate under a Fitch mountain near the house. Clever boy. Maybe he doesn't need a potty. Surprisingly the hoard was dry - and a lot further down than the pee'd on substrate.

Re: Newt's thread
I truly hope that the heat doesn't persist for too long. I know it must be such a worrisome thing for you, Serendipity. Good thing there is a breeze though. Take care.

Re: Newt's thread
It's been lovely catching up with Newt.
My previous post last week was lost when the server was down, but it looks like Newt was having a lot of fun exploring the shoe and nibbling on the dandelion root.
Lovely that Newt sat with you on the sofa listening to the music together - I'm sure Charlie pleased to see you happy.
Its so lovely hearing how much he enjoys burrowing - he must have an impressive tunnel network! I love to see their nose popping out of their tunnels.
Hoping he gets used to his new routine of waking up earlier.
Pumpkin too also enjoys running out my sleeves whilst tickling me with her whiskers!

Re: Newt's thread
I think it must have been the heat. Newtie was much more his perky little self last night and running in his wheel. He doesn't seem to fazed by the slight changes after the mini cage clean.

Re: Newt's thread
Glad Newtie perked up a bit. Was it a bit cooler? Here it is hotter than ever today and tonight is going to be hot. Then it starts to cool down. It is a bit of a battle keeping it cooler around Mocho's cage. Curtains and windows closed, frozen bottles on the top of the cage and a small fan going. So far so good. GrandpaHam is taking his duties very seriously!

Re: Newt's thread
Yes it was much cooler last night and we've had a couple of thunderstorms. Cooler today too - but we are in the north

Re: Newt's thread
Jealous of you Serendipity. Down south, it was the hottest June day we have had in 41 years!!

Re: Newt's thread
Serendipity, I am so glad that Newtie is back to his perky self again and the weather has cooled down a bit for you, too. What a relief that must be for you and Newtie. Take care and stay cool.
