Newtie still wanted to come out in the playpen tonight as usual, which I was pleased about. I had been a bit worried that once he had the wheel in his cage he might not want to come out. His little head popped out from the mound of Fitch over the entrance to his house as if to say "is it time to come out now?" He went food hunting first and then came to the cage door to come out in the playpen. I have the weighing sussed - I put the scales on a book in the playpen and put a small piece of food on them, then zero them. Newtie climbs on and eats the food so he sits there long enough for me to read the scales accurately

He is now 148g - exactly a week since his last weigh, so he's put on 16g.

Serendipity, I am so thrilled for you and your boy that you have such a loving, playful, and adventurous hammy again. I know that Newtie is bringing so much laughter and happiness into your lives. He is such a sweetie and I truly enjoy all the lovely pics, videos, and antics. What a great cage filled with tons of lovely toys, too. I know it must bring your heart so much warmth to spoil such a darling hammy.

Thank you dreamtree Yes he is a lovely little boy. It amazes me they can put on 16g in a week! Not far off an ounce. It must be just normal growing like a child has growth spurts.

Sounds as though he put on 16g of cuteness! It is so lovely to hear that he looks forward to coming out for playtime you've reminded me that I need to weigh Mushu tomorrow, actually. Newt will have finally overtaken him in size, unless Mushu has gained 8g between last Saturday and tommorrow!

I love reading about Newt's news everyday, and now that I have a minute to post I wanted to tell you that...

WOW! He is super fast and cute! He looks bigger in every new photo and video! He is growing so fast! He looks very sweet eating his food too.

I'm glad that he was pleased with the changes and that he appreciated the wheel in his cage but he wanted to come out anyway.

I hope I didn't forget about anything lol

Thank you Jopop. He doesn't look much different to last week so maybe it's his boy cushions growing lol. Yes the set up is a lot easier. I got a bit carried away with the original set up lol. Hamsters do tend to decide to do what they want regardless of what you think they want ha ha.
