Re: All about Beatrix
Beatrix is beautiful. I'm glad see and your other hamsters enjoyed their blueberries. It was nice that Beatrix was happy for you to handle her. She is a good weight too!

Re: All about Beatrix
Congrats on getting to hold her! It's always such a wonderful moment, the first time they let you handle them. She sounds to be a good healthy weight

Re: All about Beatrix
Awwwww Beatrix looks so sweet and tiny!! I'm very glad to hear that taming is going wonderful!
BTW, I liked to read about the "product placement" lol. It's interesting to know other peoples opinions, moreover if they aren't the typical products that are always recommended

Re: All about Beatrix
Beatrix seems like such a precious diva, it's so adorable! Congratulations on getting to hold her! If I learnt something from having pets it's that jealousy sometimes is a really good motivator!

Re: All about Beatrix
Last night, after she jealously watched Anya getting to be out of her cage for her medicine, I went over to Beatrix's cage and lifted the lid and put my hand in. "Do you want to come out too?" And she came over to me and stood up on her back legs and let me pick her up and hold her for a bit. She also let me weigh her, and actually stayed still on the scale! She's at 172grams, so either she's gained a bit of weight, or my last reading was inaccurate, which is totally possible. She's still not totally tame, and doesn't love being held, but we'll get there. She does like to be out of her cage, so I really want to get the playpen built. I have all the materials, I just need to find time to do it.

Re: All about Beatrix
Haha ohhh Beatrix wouldn't be jealous if she knew about that Baytril! But, it's lovely that she is being so friendly. She sounds tame already to me
172 grams is very close to your last reading of 170g, and a hamster's weight can fluctuate by up to 6 grams. Or, she's gained a little bit. I wouldn't worry about it either way.

Re: All about Beatrix
She sounds pretty tamed to me! Some females can be more hyper and that's why they don't stay still for cuddles, but it sounds like she really enjoys your company!

Re: All about Beatrix
Sorry I've been MIA for so long! I ended up picking up another class to teach this summer, so I've been swamped. All the hamsters are doing well. Beatrix and Anya are both very well-tamed. Emoji hasn't shown himself around me for awhile, but I can tell he's doing fine, and I'm ok with him being less of a handling pet. Cress is the same way. She is terrified of me. I don't want that, but I'm also ok if she doesn't want to be handled. I do need to work on getting her less afraid. I must confess--I prefer my Syrians. They are more sociable, and easier to handle. Don't get me wrong; I love my dwarf hammies too, and I give them all equally good care, but if I had to choose...
Anyway, all is well. Things are just busy. I'll try to post new pics soon.
