Re: All about Beatrix
Awww bless, it is a very cute feeling when they lick flaxseed off of you. Tell Beatrix it is good for her pretty coat too.
I am afraid I can’t offer any cage advice, but I saw the link you posted to that cage earlier and it looks very nice. I am sure Beatrix will love it, and hopefully find it more difficult to escape from!

Re: All about Beatrix
Have a look on Amazon for Plastikote, I have seen the water based enamel on there in the US.

Re: All about Beatrix
It sounds like she's settling so well! I'm glad for you both. She's lovely and looks like a very confident hamster. I laughed reading about her escape attempt. They can be real houdinis!!

Re: All about Beatrix
Jolene's new wheel arrived and I had to do some rearranging in the cage, but the Carolina Storm Bucket Wheel fits perfectly on the lowest setting. I used a bendy bridge to make a little area around it to hold back bedding to try and keep the bedding from obstructing the wheel, but it's a great size wheel, and I am looking forward to this evening when she gets to use it! I woke her up while I was rearranging and she stood up and looked around and then looked at me like, what the heck are you doing, human? Don't you know it's noon and it's time to sleep?

Beatrix LOVES her new wheel! She was sitting in it when I came in tonight, but she didn't seem to understand what it was. I'm sure she'd never seen a wheel like it before. Once I showed her that it was a wheel, a thing that spins around, she tentatively got on and started figuring it out. It's so quiet, and I actually miss being able to hear her moving on it from the other room, but it's a perfect size for her. She is also still intent on exploring the world beyond the roof of her cage, but not interested enough to let me pick her up, of course. I did get some really great photos of her tonight, though. She is such a sweetie. I just love watching her. I'm eager to get her new cage and give her even more room to play around.

She's very cute, glad to hear she enjoys her new wheel. I love just how large the patch of white on her chest is! Most hamsters only have just a bit of white

Re: All about Beatrix
I got Beatrix a larger sandbath since she loves it so much. This one is partially enclosed, which she really seems to love, especially because it means I could offer her deeper sand. She loves it!
I am very eager to get her new cage. She needs a bigger one, and I feel bad that I didn't have one from the beginning. But she will have it soon and I need to get the "hamster room" ready for larger cages anyway. It has been a storage room, so there's a lot of stuff to move around to make room.
I have learned so far that she loves broccoli and spinach and hates parsley!
