I got the Silent Runner, but it is too tall for her bin cage. I am trying to find a bin that's both long and wide enough and tall enough, but there's not a lot of options around me. I've ordered a variety of wheels to try out, and those should arrive this coming week.

Oh, I see. Have you consisered the Alaska cage from zooplus? It’s obviously not a bin cage, but it easily fits a silent runner.

I would love to get a cage like that, but, alas, I'm in the US, and while I can find some online to order, shipping would be far too expensive. I'm hoping to figure something out soon!

Ah I won’t be much help when it comes to the US, I’m afraid. Hopefully someone else on here can advise you!

Have you considered the hamster heaven cage? It's pretty pricey, but has free shipping on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003Q...vL&ref=plSrch#

Then there's also the Kevin 82
https://www.amazon.com/Marchioro-Kev.../dp/B00AA507GW

And the Goran 82
https://www.amazon.com/Marchioro-Gor.../dp/B00ADQSCHY

The Alaska can be shipped to the US through viovet I believe, but it's super expensive and really isn't worth it when you can get bigger and cheaper cages here!

What size cage is she in now? A 40 gallon breeder, though quite small for a Syrian, can be used if you section off about 1/4 of the cage with only an inch or two of bedding so the wheel can fit. You could always create a DIY cage if you wanted as this is large, and can be customized to fit your needs

She's in a huge bin cage right now. I'm not sure of the size. I measured it before I bought it to make sure it was large enough, but I can't remember what size it was! My only issue with it is the height. I wasn't thinking about having to allow for the wheel stand.

I don't really love the idea of a cage with bars, but I will research the cages you listed. Thanks!

Totally understandable! I'm not a fan of barred cages personally, but they do work well for some people. Felicity gave you a really great idea for fitting the wheel on your other thread so I'd suggest that

Congratulations on your new cutie! I can't wait to see more pictures of her!

As far as suitable cages go, the Kevin 82 by Marchioro is a really nice (and huge) cage. The only downfall is that it is a bit overpriced online nowadays. Other than the shelving that comes with it, the wheel, house, and food dish are not suitable for a syrian (but would be perfect for a dwarf).

My experience with bin cages is they are alright if your hamster does not chew their way out of them! Cinder was in one for only a month when she decided to do a little "construction" work one night. Luckily I noticed her "escape plan" before she got out!

Beatrix is so curious and has already picked up on the fact that Mom=Treats. She comes to see me as soon as I come in the room. She ate some flax seeds from the palm of my hand and nibbled my fingers a bit, but it didn't hurt, which reassured me. My childhood hamster did bite, and, to be honest, I probably deserved it. (I tried to be a good owner, but I was still a child), so I have been a tad nervous about that, tbh. Anyway, I can hear her running away on her wheel right now from the other room, and it does comfort me to know she's getting her exercise. She's already using her sand bath as a potty, so that makes cleaning up easy on me. She seems to love meal worms and flax seeds and millet the most so far. She is such a cutie, I swear I could just watch her run around her wheel all night.
