Lizzy: I did actually put down quite a few toys (wheel, tubes, hideout etc) but Mushu wanted nothing to do with them. No sir, he wanted to explore! He wasn't frightened at all by the open space - he loved it. That's why after a while I picked up all the toys except his hideout which I left down in case he got scared. He didn't go in it once, though.

I watched to videos last night and he's so cute, I loved watching his floofy bum as he walked alongside the skirting, he's got quite the wiggle lol

WHAT DO YOU MEAN STILL IN GERMANY?!

As you know, I ordered Mushu’s new cage some time ago (the 15th of April). According to the confirmation email Zooplus sent me, it ought to have arrived by now. But, DPD’s tracking information still have it in Germany, having not moved since 5am on Friday. So, I called up Zooplus this morning. They, in turn, contacted DPD, who appear to have basically forgotten to deliver my parcel. Grrrr. They promised it would be delivered tomorrow, but the tracking information has yet to show any movement at all.

My tracking didn't update as quick as the parcel moved. Hopefully yours will be the same.

I had the delivery and it hadn't changed to delivered for a few hours later.

It's quite an experience anticipating a package isn't it? Hope it ships soon, for little Mushu's sake and for your sanity! Glad he seems to be very confident

Mushu is so fluffy and handsome - I've just been catching up with his thread and have been really enjoying reading about him as well as seeing the all photos of Mushu and his wonderful skirt. Love the videos of Mushu grooming - I really enjoy watching hamsters grooming themselves.

It was also really nice to see Mushu predecessors, they all looked very sweet.

Hopefully his new cage will come tomorrow - it can get a little frustrating waiting for a parcel to come!

SKB and flowerfairy: Mushu and I thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed the videos! He is fastidious about his fur, is he will be pleased to hear all the grooming is paying off

CMB and Drago: Unfortunately there have been further issues as the cage arrived with a broken platform. Sigh.

CAGE UPDATE

I chased Zooplus up yesterday about the fact Mushu's cage had not arrived and they contacted DPD. As a result, it did finally arrive this afternoon. However, my excitement was short lived as I discovered that the platform was broken! I emailed Zooplus a picture and they said they could sent me a replacement platform but it would take up to 5 weeks to arrive. Well, of course I told them that wasn't good enough and surprise surprise, suddenly it was only going to take 3-5 DAYS.

Edit: So, it now turns out that they actually can't send a replacement platform but will reimburse me £8. Hmm. Well, I guess the platform is still usable (only one clip on the side is broken) - it is just the igloo on top which is beyond repair. So, Mushu will simply have to be igloo-less.

This is his cage as it currently is. There will be thicker substrate as I will be moving all of the substrate from Mushu's old cage into the new one on top of the substrate I already put in. Of course, I will also add his old bedding, water bottles, gnaw sticks, food dish etc.

I am contemplating removing the climbing frame as I have never seen him use it and I worry it is not very stable. I also would like to add a sand bath.
