What a lovely little guy! I knew he was a little fluff, but oh my goodness I didn't realize he was so fluffy until I saw the videos lol. I loved his little stretch in the playpen, to me, there's nothing cuter than a stretching hamster
Mushu climbed out of his cage into my hands this morning again!
I gave him his second weigh in today. He is now 116g, so has gained 15g since last week!
I never weighed my past hamsters as they grew, so I don’t know if that is normal. It seems a lot to me, but he looks healthy, is exercising and seems to be eating a balanced diet.
Gained 15g in fluffiness I think I've never had a Syrian hamster so I don't know if that's a lot to gain in a week. Though at his age I guess he'll be doing a lot of growing just now

Yep!! Mine is an onesie too!! With a hood with little ears and a tail but I didn't want to sound too crazy. I have three, the leopard one, the zebra one, and one of Winnie The Pooh.
Mushu looks adorable in the videos and photos. I really think that his names suits him very well. He loos so tiny and fluffly. And if you compares him with his wheel he looks even smaller. I'm glad he enjoyed his time out. It must be awesome for you both!. I think 116 is a good weight for a young hamster, they could reach 200 gr or even more when adults.
Just been catching up on your fluffy beauty.
Adorable pics of Mushu in his new house and the pistachio nut. Great idea putting his new things in his playpen so he can get used to them.
116g is a great weight.
Hope you're feeling less stress now your ham hospital appointment is over.

*FYI: This post will contain extreme spamming of cute hamster videos and pictures. I'm sorry... I couldn't resist*
Don't worry, despite what the title of this post might suggest, I have no intention of eating Mushu! This evening was the first time Mushu has ever been allowed to run free on the floor (needless to say, the room was completely hamster-proofed). Previously, we had been letting him exercise in his playpen to get him used to the floor in preparation for this moment. He was clearly getting frustrated with the playpen as he was gnawing the bars, so I decided that today was the day I should let him go free range.
And he loved it! I've never seen him so happy. He had a wonderful time: scampering around, sniffing everything, climbing on and around me, taking treats. I actually worried that we'd have a hard time persuading him to be caught, but thankfully he allowed himself to be picked up just as calmly as usual.
Somehow he made it onto the skirting board...
My cat also enjoyed the show - from safely behind a locked door!
Yeah, I don't expect anyone to watch/read all of that. But, as much as I love sharing Mushu, this thread is mostly for me anyway. It's like my Mushu diary If you do get through it all, then congratulations, you deserve a medal haha.
Gorgeous! A great space for Mushu to play in, maybe include some toys and hideouts for her so she has something with her scent. A big space can take a bit of getting use to. With the playpen she had a set space with her toys giving her that extra security.
