Oh yes, I forgot to say. I encountered a problem when I tried to put more substrate in... Any more than is currently on the floor (an inch deep - I stuck a ruler in lol) and the wheel won't turn!! He loves his wheel, so I am not sure what to do. Perhaps you could share some wisdom?

Yep, it's a common problem. You can put something (a bendy bridge, a cardboard box, for example) to divide the part where the wheel is from the rest of the cage, and fill one part and leave the other with less substrate... I don't know if I'm explaining it well. It's hard for me to explain it in English

I think your cage is the problem really, is it tall enough to put a free standing wheel in?
If it is you could put more substrate in & stand the wheel on top, if necessary then fence that area off with bendy bridges or something as Hamsterita suggested then you can fill the rest of the base to the top.

You're expressing the idea perfectly and I know exactly what you mean. Yes, I think that would work well. Thank you very much

I like your idea of a free standing wheel, too. The cage is more than tall enough and I have actually been thinking of buying Mushu one anyway to replace the one which came with the cage as I feel he is going to get too big to use it when he is fully grown. Thanks very much.

You can get an 11inch wheel (ideal for a Syrian) from quite a few places. Viovet sell a few wheels, as does Amazon and Zooplus. Th Silent Runner wheel is the best on the market and you really get what you pay for quality wise. Other options would be the Trixie Wheel, Comfort Wheel and Wodent Wheel. Free standing wheels are much better because some bars can be quite weak and won't support the wheel (Pets At Home cages have incredibly weak bars so I struggle getting a Lava Ledge in).

He's very cute ,

Haha yes he is. And I am sure he will appreciate the new wheel! Will have a look at options, espwcially the Silent Runner.

Took a video of Mushu to see whether anyone here can tell if he is a satin, and/or what colour he is. Please note: Mushu was in this box for only a few minutes (as long as it took to shoot the video).
