Jude's Rehab
My friend was made aware of a pair of Syrians living together, probably about 4 months old, whose owner wanted to rehome them. Today we went to pick them up - one girl came to me and one went to my friend for TLC.
My wee lass is called Jude, named for the patron saint of lost causes and hope. She's been lovely to handle when picking her up to put her into the carrier and then transfer her into her first cage here. She's only in a little bin cage so as not to overwhelm or stress her. She's ever so thin, weighing only 73g, but she's got a good appetite and has tucked into the bit of food I put in her cage (there again only a little bit to start with so she didn't gorge and upset her tum - I'm keeping an eye and will top up little and often). She's in strict quarantine and has her own food box, both for infection control and because she's eating just plain commercial mix for now rather than what I mix up for my hams. The bag of food the show hams won at the Harrogate show has come in very handy!
I hope she tolerates the move and chubbies up. I'll keep you posted on her progress.

Re: Jude's Rehab
Awww bless her, poor wee hammy. 73g is ever so thin.....at least she is with you now and getting the love, care and special attention. Well done to you and your friend for rescuing and taking them in.
Sending positive vibes to little Jude, am sure she'll go from strength to strength under your care.

Re: Jude's Rehab
Poor little girl, she's landed on her paws now so I really hope she'll soon be thriving.
She has such a sweet little face.

Re: Jude's Rehab
She looks so sweet and gentle and that's a nice looking bowl of food she has there . I'm sure she'll soon flourish - fingers crossed. It reminds me of 'failure to thrive' children that used to come into hospital - neglect really I guess. So glad she found you.

Re: Jude's Rehab
Aw, she looks so happy in her pics and a bi eye to boot. So glad to see other breeders like myself who are willing to take in a Hamster in need. Look forward to seeing the new and much plumper Jude.

Re: Jude's Rehab
Her odd eyes were what appealed to me. I was technically only supposed to be the driver and my friend was taking both girls, but little Jude wouldn't let me! She may go on to a pet home if she rehabilitates well so I'm trying not to get too too attached.
It was great to see her enjoy her substrate and hear her destroying her cardboard box last night when she got the hang of it (she's in my bedroom for quarantine).
