Congrats on rescuing your new Syrian hamster. I am glad that she has found you to love and care for her. Hopefully the Russian hybrid will be equally lucky, too. I am so glad that your newest member of the family is adjusting well to her new home. Enjoy your time together and definitely keep asking the wonderful questions because the members in this community are very knowledgeable and are thoroughly pleased to share their vast experience with everyone. Have fun with your Syrian and good luck with everything. I look forward to reading more about her and seeing pictures as soon as she is settled in her happy home.

Aww the name Peppermint so suits her! Sounds like she's starting to settle, the past week must've been so stressful so I'm not surprised she was chewing the cage. Thanks to you & your roommate she's realising this home is different.

Hi Minty I'm Pip but my pet human says my proper name is Pippin, but what do these humans know heh?
I live in an Alaska cage, you will like it there is plenty of room to do things like digging and having fun, make sure that your human gives you plenty of fresh treats like cucumber, broccoli, peas, sweetcorn, chicken is nice too oh and cheese is the besttreat ever..
Bye for now
Pippin

Update!

Peppermint's got her new cage, the Alaska, as well as a bunch of new toys and a wheel (I'll post picture's soon). She's the sweetest Syrian, she likes to sit on me and my roommate's shoulders and in our pockets We've been slowing introducing fresh vegetables to her diet and her favourite so far is carrot.
She's almost completely stopped bar chewing, only nibbling them curiously for a few seconds before finding a toy to play with. She's also learnt to sit by the cage door when she wants to come out and play. She also managed to drag an entire whimzees alligator to her nest.

Also, good news! The hybrid they returned with her has been adopted by someone so hopefully they will take care of him well. (I was buying hamster food when Peppermint and the hybrid were being returned and the poor hybrid was returned in a thin takeout container too shallow for him to even move, with sharp cracks in the lid.)

Glad that Peppermint is doing well, looking forward to further updates! Glad the Russian has been adopted too, hopefully he'll have as good a life as you are now giving Peppermint the chance to have.

Whimzees are an amazing option for wearing teeth down. My Syrian Eros absolutely loves his tremendously.

I am so happy that you adopted yous hamster. I am terribly sorry that it was so neglected prior to this. Definitely give it time to settle in especially since it is not accustomed to human interaction. Then, begin the taming process. Good luck with everything and congrats on adopting. Hopefully, you will be able to save the life of the Russian Hybrid as well.

She loves her Whimzees! She's mostly tame now, a little nibbley and jumpy but otherwise, she's fine
