It was great to catch up with the pre-Christmas adventures of Eros and Snickers! They are both so photogenic

Thank you so much for your sweet reply, Astrid. I definitely look forward to meeting and getting to know your darling ham after he/she settles in more, too. It won't be much longer of a wait until it is the 28th of December and you bring your little one home with you.

Aww, you are so kind, Cypher and BP. BP, I was so shocked that Eros liked the plain popcorn instantly as she uses isn't too keen on having new types of food; I thought I'd give this a try anyway since she always loves new items after a few tastings, lol. Maybe your boys may desire to sample a piece just to be sure, lol.

Clankity CLANK! What's that strange noise that I hear coming from the reindeer food bag? It's a bit early for reindeer to visit since it isn't even Christmas Eve yet. Oh my, I suppose I have two fluffy reindeer coming to nibble on some carrots early this year, lol.

Snickers began wheek-WHEEKING once she heard the familiar jingling of the reindeer food bag bell. I suppose she thought she would make quite an extra charming reindeer this year, too. She may not be Rudolph with his brightly shining red nose, but she sure is a precious Snicker-deer with her twitching baby pink nose and her very festive antlers.



Oh, you are SO cute and silly coming to the reindeer feast with your own uniquely special set of antlers, Eros. I suppose a piece of perfectly placed crinkly bedding will due just fine for a hamster-sized reindeer.


Oops! Your antlers fell off, but you sure look absolutely adorable plopped on the burlap sack with your pouty face on.


Don't worry, Eros, you definitely deserve some yummy carrots, too! Come on and get some, Baby Bee!


Can I have this HUGE, whole carrot? My paw is resting on the perfect one, don't you think?


Maybe this is a more appropriate size for such a tiny reindeer, lol. I will let you have a few nibbles now and give you the rest over the next few days.

Here are a few glam photos of Eros with the multi-colored bling garland. She sure loved the clinking sounds it made as she walked on them, lol. She also was thrilled to realize that there were even some hidden mealworms, too. YIPPEE!!!!

Eros, I absolutely adore all of your pre-Christmas photos, especially the second to the last one, you’re just so adorable in all of them. I see you’re totally in Christmas mood. Both Marti and Lemon are in love with your holiday preparations and want me to explain how much they love it. Marti says that she likes it more than sunflower seeds, and Lemon says that his adoration of you is bigger than his cage. I guess that means a lot. I think for both of them, you are some kind of a hamster Christmas angel now. XD We’re all waiting to see what presents both you and your mommy prepared for each other! And for Snickers, she’s so lovely!
Off topic: dreamtree, I’ve wanted to ask you about Snickers. I’ve heard that guinea pigs are usually kept in groups, does yours just prefer to be by herself? )))

Burakki, Marti, and Lemon - thank you so much for the extremely sweet comments. I will be sure that Eros and Snickers hear how much you all love our pre-Christmas photoshoots. Wow, that sure means the world to us that you have such praise for the photos. Btw, guinea pigs are usually kept in groups, but when I got Snickers on October 21, 2012 all of the piggies that she was with at the pet store all died of wet tail prior to me getting my sweetie. Since there are no piggy breeders anywhere close to my area and the pet stores decided not to carry piggies for a while, I decided to let some time go by prior to purchasing another piggy from the store to be safe. Soon, I realized that Snickers absolutely loves being a solo piggy - she is definitely the princess of her own special palace after all. She also has tons of interaction, attention, and love from me and other members of my family and she isn't in her cage much anyway so she is extremely happy. I still keep a lookout for a sweet and healthy piggy from a breeder or an adoption place that may be a good fit for Snickers to come around just in case she ever desires to have a piggy companion.

EROS IN THAILAND
Sawasdee Ka! (สวัสดี ค่ะ) which is translated to "Hello/Welcome!" in Thai - the "Ka" is the polite ending to be used by females and the "Krup" is the equivalent to be used by males! Eros has thoroughly enjoyed her visit to Thailand and she decided to share some information concerning the props that she used in her latest HOM entry: Hamsters Around the World - Eros In Thailand. Here is the one she entered along with a few of my favorite outtakes of the photoshoot.




The Thai garland is typically made up of the three flowers which are shown in the one with Eros visiting Thailand photos: the dok ruk flower resembles the top stone of an ancient Greek corinthian pillar and means "flower of love", the jasmine flower, and the rose.


The Benjarong is a well-known traditional Thai porcelain which means "Five Colors" since it is created with multi-colored enamels on a white porcelain base. It also has 18-karat gold paint to add luster to the fine china.

As well as being known as "The Land of Smiles", Thailand is also referred to as "The Land of Orchids" since there are at least 1,300 orchid species grown there.

The doll is wearing the Thai classical dance costume including the Ram-Thai Headdress Crown and formal attire.

The miniature, carved home is made of teak wood and shows one style of Thai architecture.

EROS IN JAPAN
Since Eros really enjoyed herself, she decided to also visit other countries as well. Here are a few outtakes of her trip to Japan. Eros being the hammy that she is decided to learn from an Okinawan Japanese karate master hamster. Of course, the instructor is a black belt and Eros is a white belt (as seen in her white band on her coat, lol). Eros also had a miniature headband on her forehead that I made from a piece of shoelace, but she was too excited to do all the karate moves and check out all the tricks the Japanese hamster had in store for her that it fell off of course. Being the clever hammy that she is, Eros remembered that a tiny button on a stuffed animal means that it is FULLY animated with song, dance, etc. since she remembered Mr. Tom Turkey at Thanksgiving. As expected, this hammy had the same type of button and sang, moved in a dancing motion, and swung its nunchaku (aka nunchuks) around and around.

Eros is being instructed about the proper safety techniques while using a nunchaku. In order to ensure that she is paying close attention, she is staying inside the authentic Japanese cast iron teapot.



After one of my family members heard of Eros's headband falling off, she giggled and sent me this edited version where Eros is sporting the Rising Sun headband and is giving proper honor and appreciation to her teacher. The text in the bubble "Sensei, doumo arigatou gozaimasu" translated in Japanese says, "Thank you very much teacher!" which is said after bowing.

I will be sure to share her many world travel adventures to other countries (China, Russia, England, Italy, Germany, and lol since I couldn't help it - United States) with you in other posts so I hope that you enjoy them as much as we did. The photoshoots have all been done for quite a while now, but I wanted to be sure to post some of our Christmas photos first.
