Smile Kilian, the New Ham on the Block

After much debate and overwhelming cuteness, my sister and I were roped into adopting a young, boy hammy from the pet store.

We have been seriously considering adopting some little guy from our all male pet store for a while, but they never seemed to have Syrians up for adoption. Luckily for us, the holiday season brings around more hammies. From four beautiful man hams, we chose our adorable Kilian.

Kilian is settling into his cage nicely, although he still gets slightly nervous at the chuffing noises of Queen Kornelia across the court (room). Despite his seemingly minimal contact with humans, Kilian is adapting quite nicely.

Kilian will be the first boy hamster that we have had, with the exception of two weeks with Leo who ended up with a friend. Both my sister and I are super excited to begin our journey with Kilian!

Pictures posted soon! (Some of you may laugh at the similarity between the two hammies, but Kilian was just the right fit! Although Kilian has black spots on his ears and gray splotches on his back.)

It's the third day of adopting Kilian, and he seems to be settling in quite well.

From the moment that he settled into his bin cage, the smart little chap seemed to potty train himself! Not a single wee outside of his potty, so I'm super proud of the little boy.

He seems to be taming himself quite nicely, as well. He loves to be petted and stroked, although my sister and I are still taking this process very slowly as not to frighten him. He'll rub up against our hands like a miniature cat, but it will probably be a while before we even attempt to pick him up with our hands.

All is well with eating. And does this little guy like to eat! Admittedly, Kilian DOES pick out the bits and pieces that is not like the ones he had at the pet store. However, we're trying to wean him slowly, as we don't want his tummy to get upset.
