No, Cinnamon Bear, I most certainly don't think toothpaste would be appreciated by Heaven, LOL!!! Her teeth must be sparkling by now, though. She would make any dentist proud.

Play pen didn't work, even with cardboard hiding the bars. I'll keep trying.

Dreamtree, make any Dentist proud. I won't try to floss her teeth, lol

Heaven escaped tonight!!! Chloe was in the taming playpen & here comes Heaven side by side with Chloe. I couldn't believe what I was seeing but she walked right to me so I picked her up & put her back in her cage. She's such a good girl my fault for leaving her top off.

Is it unusual for an escaped hammy to come right up to you?

I think it depends if they've had much experience of being out on the loose. Once they know you're going to put them back in their cage they try to stay out of your way . Perhaps it's best to give them something extra tasty and a bit of a fuss if you catch them on the outside.

Ivy was a great escape artist and once she got into the kitchen and got trapped under some kitchen cupboards. I couldn't reach her but there was a small hole just big enough for a ham so I put some apple next to it. She was too fast for me and once she got the apple down there I felt there was no way to tempt her out. But dylan got a big peanut in the shell and we did not let go of it. When Ivy grabbed the nut we pulled her out with her teeth still stuck in the nut husk.

I don't think it's that unusual, but then I've only had one escaped hamster. It was my first hamster and we found him before we realised he had escaped, because when my mum walked into the hamster room he strolled right over to her happy as you please!

Master Harvey did it when he escaped his carrier when I was cleaning his cage, I realised he'd escaped so I kept calm and sat on the floor and called his name and out he comes from behind the sofa straight to me.

Those are interesting stories Heaven uses her exercise ball almost every night so she knows the layout of the apartment. I'm so lucky she might have been scared to run very far from me. It was quite a sight to see Chloe in the cage & Heaven next to Chloe on the outside of the cage, I'm scratching my head, "what????" Lol

Oh no naughty ham! It's good that she came when called though. None of my hamsters know their names, they can't really, but curiousity and intonation might may them come closer. Good thing you got her in time!
