My hammies love the Rosewood Little Hearts. They aren't as sugary as a lot of the pet store bought treats and they're just the right size for pouching!

If you live in the US, Pet-Co & Pet Smart carry rice pops, they are foam - like chews. My dwarves love them! Pet-Co sell bags of longer colorful rice pops that you can break in 1/2. Syrians might like these too?

Didn't mean to imply that if you live in the UK, you can't buy them LOL

Millet can go down well with some hamsters, but Syrians might ignore it.Mine ignored it until I held it for her, which is how she is about a lot of things. It isn't usually too expensive though,so even if it isn't something that a hamster ends up liking it isn't like you spend a ton of money on it only to waste that money!

Mine loves Versele Laga Nutties, and I like them because they are a natural treat. They are ridiculously expensive (about 2 or 3 euros) if you think about how much the ingredients would cost separately, but let's face it, buying the Nutties is easier.

I'm going to show some photos that aren't mine (credit to mylittlemonsters.pl)

(I don't know why on the last photo the rice pops aren't shown, and on my bag I also found whole pumpkin seeds and another circular pellets that aren't shown on the picture)

Versele laga has other natural snack varieties (fruities, veggies and cereals that i know of) but I don't know how they are (and if they are natural as they stated) as I've never bought them

Certain grocery stores and even some other stores sell nuts and seeds, and if they sell seeds and such for wild birds chances are you can find at least one or two things that can make a good treat for hamsters. This could be mealworms as well, but not all stores will carry them.In the US Home Depot does carry mealworms,so hardware stores that also sell general outdoor items might be a good place to check as well!

My Syrian absolutely loves dried mealworms! I brought them from WILKO in the uk! Weirdly when I first offered one to her she sniffed it and pulled a really disgusted face! I left a few in her digging box for a few days and she kept sniffing them and putting them back down then one day she nibbled one and now she's obsessed! She never pouches them just sits with her eyes closed and nibbles the whole thing. She seems to have learnt the sound of the bag they're in because as soon as I pick the bag up she rubs straight to the cage door! That and grapes, I don't tend to buy store brought treats as she seems happy enough to eat whatever I have in the house!
