Re: All About My Pumpkin
How naughty, but still cute. Secret tunnels are fun. Willow still likes creating secret tunnels and the innocent look always gets me.
I haven’t had an extendable tube chewed yet, but buried cardboard hamster tubes have been. It’s always chewed in the middle, just as Pumpkin has done with her tube.
You may be able to link the two pieces together. I know you can join two of those tunnels together. I think each end looks different and you link opposite ends.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Oh dear! Pumpkin really did do a good job on that tube
Sounds as though she's being having fun one way or another! Does she sometimes get a bit unsettled by the cage changes & cleaning do you think?
Lovely photos of her with her nibble pots, I can see how much she's enjoying that, far better than plastic nibbles Pumpkin

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank You SunnyOy, CMB and cypher
I too have never had an extendable tunnel chewed to this extent - Sherbet chewed small holes in her when a treat used to get stuck in the grooves as she used to use her as to store her food. I was shocked to see how much Pumpkin had chewed it - I was expecting to see some small holes but not a massive one. Pumpkin has been enjoying nibbling on her nibble pots I don't think she misses nibbling on the tunnel!

Pumpkin doesn't seem bothered by her cage changes and cleans as long as I make sure I keep majority of the substrate in her cage (and mix new bedding through it), leave her sand bath and all her toys have her scent on and most where in her previous layout. I remember one time Pumpkin when was upset with her cage layout and when I returned her to her cage she sat trembling but that when I realised that I had put in lots of new tunnels in which didn't have her scent on - luckily I haven't seen her tremble in a while now - although I also have to make sure I don't do any spot cleaning or alterations to her cage if she awake too as she will tremble then.
A few times when Pumpkin has her hyper days in her heat cycle (equals lots of chewing too) she decided to move out of her house and sleep some where else but then she swiftly moves back into her house.

DIY Knuff Wheel Shelves and Posing Pumpkin
Pumpkin has thoroughly enjoyed chewing things up recently in her cage - and Monday night decided it was time to chew up the cardboard box which I had been using as a wheel stand for her wooden wheel as it was in the way of an important tunnel - she had chewed one of the edges off making it quite unstable. So it prompted me to make some wheel shelves - at first I thought I would have to buy wood. When I removed the her wooden wheel and replaced it with her plastic wheel when trying to come up with an idea - I had placed the wheel on one of my knuff shelves and that when the idea came to me, to use the side of the knuff which I had removed when I made Pumpkin's shelves. Luckily I had 2 available so Wednesday I manage to make both wheel shelves and was very happy with the outcome. After allowing the paint to fully dry, yesterday (Friday) morning I decide to place then both in her cage and they work really well. I did have to make modification to the shelf for the silent runner as it slide around when I spun the wheel - so fixed some lolly sticks to stop the wheel from sliding and two little pieces besides the upright.
Pumpkin has given both shelves a good test tonight from all her wheel running.
I have recently gotten a sprouting kit for Pumpkin so now I can grown her more sprouts - as my most of previous attempts went mouldy when using sand or tissue. It is working really well and I currently have rocket sprouts and some coriander is just sprouting now. Pumpkin got a few piece of the rocket sprouts tonight - they disappeared within seconds - so I think she approves!
This week I have been lucky enough to get quite a few photos of Pumpkin doing some of her iconic poses -

Creative as always SKB, finding ways to distract or amuse Pumpkin. Love the photos too. So typical of your beautiful girl and I love it when you catch her upright.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I'm catching up with a few days of your wonderful thread. Aww, it certainly looks like darling Pumpkin had a marvelous Christmas dinner and plenty of amazing new toys, treats, etc. to enjoy throughout 2018. You always find the most amazing things to entertain your sweetheart. As always, I love all the wonderful pics and hearing about all her silly and charming antics. Pumpkin sure is one special ham and her hamtrums were quite cute, too. I do especially appreciate hams with a naughty but sweet side. I love her "innocent" face; it makes me giggle and touches my heart. I am surprised that she chewed such a huge hole into her expandable tube; she sure is one busy, BUSY girl, lol. I also love all the outtakes of her January HOM photoshoot. She looks so precious in all the pics; my favorites are the one you choice to enter, the one where she is sniffing the tulips, and the one where she is hiding in the wooden shoe. I also love the latest group of photos especially the 2nd from the top, large pic on the right. Her expression is just so priceless and amusing. The DIY knuff wheel shelves are just brilliant and as always the latest cage design is terrific. I'm glad that your latest sprouts turned out well and Pumpkin enjoyed them in a jiffy, lol. She sure is one lucky ham!

A Lazy Week
Pumpkin has had a lazy week - spending more time sleeping than usual. It started on late Tuesday evening, as we were experiencing some really stormy weather and I could hear the wind whistling outside. Pumpkin returned to her house earlier than usual and when I woke up in the morning she has piled lots of fitch around her house entrance. Then for the rest of the week she has been more sleepy than usual and I haven't really seen much of Pumpkin at all - she still wanted to come out for her evening cuddle time so we still had some cuddles but she then spent the rest of her time out of her snuggled in her grass nest. I did try seeing one day if she wanted to go back in her cage early but after sticking her head out with her eyes still partly shut and not wanting to leave the comforts of her grass nest I decided to leave her until it was her usual time to go back in her cage. After returning Pumpkin to her cage, like usual demand her her evening treats - then after eating or storing them Pumpkin returned back to her house and she didn't come out for the rest of the evening when I was still awake (and I stay up quite late before going to bed - although she may have been more awake when I was asleep). However on Thursday evening, Pumpkin did emerge from her house later in the evening and sat begging for a cuddle which I obliged to - although a little while after returning Pumpkin to her cage I think she heard something which startled her as she shot back to her house - looking like she was startles.
So her behaviour this week has been quite unlike her usual hyperactive self - although she is now approximately now 1 year and 6 months - so I'm aware she may start begin to slow down. I decided to weigh Pumpkin on Friday and then I discovered that she lost around 10g since the last time I weighed her approximately over a month ago - which left me a little concerned so did a full health check and everything seems normal. Although I have turned my heating up slightly in case she was getting cold - as there has been problems with the heating the last couple of weeks so the house has been colder than usual.
However tonight Pumpkin seems to be more like her usual self - been quite hyper during her evening cuddle time we had lots of cuddles, and she was playing more in her playbin. As well as now she back in her cage she is still running around and using her wheels a lot more than I have seen her all of this week. I must admit it quite a relief seeing her more like her usual self as I was starting to worry that something wasn't quite right with her. But I will continue to closely monitor to make sure she is still okay.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Sorry to hear you've had concerns with Pumpkin not being her usual self, the heating playing up & the stormy weather could well explain her wanting to stay in bed more but the weight loss is a little worrying, good to hear she's been back to her normal self though & I hope she continues that way & there's nothing to worry about.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Those photos of Pumpkin are adorable! And love the knuff wheel stand shelves - you're very good at making things.
Newt has also been a bit reclusive recently - I think it's the noisy wind and cold weather. Pumpkin's weight maybe varies a bit - perhaps just check again next week if she seems ok.
