Another Knuff and Pumpkin Palace Cage Layout - March 2018

Back in January I decided to make Pumpkin another Knuff shelf. I have been meaning to share this shelf for a while now but hadn't yet put the finishing touches to the shelf so decided to wait until I was using it in her cage. I thought the one thing Pumpkin's Palace was missing was a Garden - so she now has her very own and she was quite pleased to hear it very low maintenance, easy to keep clean and also has lots of privacy!

This shelf was lots of fun to make in my spare time - from building the fence out of lollisticks and painting all the little flowers onto her plastikote grass! Here is Pumpkin's garden (the dowel fence was still in the process of drying when I took these photos) ...

Earlier this week it was time to give Pumpkin's cage a clean and provide her with a new layout - this time I decided upon a spring themed layout with lots of bright colours (as on the 20th its official spring). I thoroughly enjoyed setting this layout up and Pumpkin has been having lots of fun the last few evening exploring and being her usual hyper happy self whilst she having fun.

I also managed to find a carrot shaped hamster food bowl in a local pet store - so I'm currently using it as her water bowl (can be seen more clearly in the photos of her knuff shelf)

This is Pumpkin's spring themed layout (although her cage currently doesn't look that neat and tidy anymore!)...

and a few extra photos of Pumpkin demanding cuddles as well as her enjoying a Rosewood Nibble 'n' Gnaw Stacker hanging treat chew...

The garden is lovely. Now Punpkin can go in the garden whenever she wants.

It looks great SKB and I love her garden shelf Must have been quite fiddly sticking all the lollipop sticks on

In the first pic in the demanding cuddles photos it looks like she is smiling and dancing in the second

Thank you Coco61, CMB, cypher and BorisPasha for your lovely compliments regarding Pumpkin’s garden and cage layout – she has been enjoying both. Her garden really brightened up her cage and spring like - which was perfectly mirroring the spring like weather we were having this week however today it feels like winter again – light snow showers which isn’t settling and cold temperatures – although Pumpkin and myself are keeping nice and cosy inside!

BorisPasha, making the fence was quite fiddly although I did assemble the fence before gluing to the knuff shelf as I thought it would be too difficult to glue them individually onto the shelf without them moving. Although the dowel fence I did glue directly on but I used hot glue alongside PVA glue so the hot glue could hold them in place whilst PVA glue was drying so they wouldn’t be able move.

A Lazy Start to the Week

Pumpkin was very lazy at the beginning of this week. I went to get her out in the evening at her usual time (8:30pm) normally she would usually be waiting for me however Pumpkin was nowhere to be seen – sometimes she would wait inside her house so I called her but heard no movement. However Pumpkin decided that she was going to have a lay in and 15 to 20 minutes later Pumpkin emerged and wanted to come out. During her playtime she wasn’t as energetic and cuddly as she would unusually be. After Pumpkin was returned to her cage she ate her evening treats and disappeared back to bed until later in the night were I would hear her busy making a Fitch mountain!

On Wednesday Pumpkin didn’t want to come out at all in the evening for cuddles. She stuck her head out of her house looked at me and disappeared back into her house. When I was getting ready for bed – Pumpkin emerged from her house and sat by her house tunnel entrance staring at me – I thought she wanted a cuddle and offered my hand but she didn’t want a cuddle. She continued to sit in the same place staring at me and I was trying to work out what she wanted – then I realised that I hadn’t yet given Pumpkin her evening treats. As soon as I had placed her treats into her bowl she pouched them and disappeared back to her bed.

Despite being lazy Pumpkin has keep herself busy when she been awake by building a huge Fitch mountain over her house entrance – so no wonder she wanted to stay in her house longer as her house must be nice and cosy. She kicked majority of the Fitch in front of her silent runner to build her mountain, so I filled it up with some more Fitch one evening the next morning that Fitch was also been used for her mountain.

So here is Pumpkin’s Fitch mountain (the photos with Pumpkin in gives a good scale of size of her mountain) …

Well Thursday and Friday Pumpkin was back to her usual hyper self and was eager to come out in the evening for cuddles and a play in her playbin. She couldn’t get enough of her sand bath and cuddles! So much so after having a cuddle and I returned her back into her playbin she ran through some of her tunnels in a circuit and within seconds demanding another cuddle – she can be quite cheeky and funny when she does this.

As I haven’t seen much of Pumpkin this week I haven’t managed to take many photos although I managed to get these of Pumpkin enjoying her treat stick the other day …

I Have Broken My Laptop!

Well I have broken my laptop - I decided to try to fix my laptop myself as every time I switched my computer on it started beeping until it had loaded - it was getting quite annoying so I decided to look up what the problem might be. After a quick search I discovered what the problem was along with a video tutorial on how to fix it. Now, I realised I probably should have taken my laptop to someone who knew what they were doing however the video tutorial made it look so easy - although it did involve taking my laptop to bits to replace a little round battery on the circuit board. After putting my laptop back together the beeping has stopped however know my mouse pad doesn’t work at all and my keyboard was being very temperamental - so my laptop is for repair at the momen and hopefully they can fix it! So I won’t be able to share any photos of Pumpkin until I get my laptop back. I also find it so much easier to reply to the forum using my laptop rather than my iPad but I will have to make do - as it is my fault my laptop is broken.

However Pumpkin is still being her usual self - I can’t believe it’s almost spent a 1 year and 6 months with Pumpkin where has this time gone - it sure has flown by. Pumpkin doing really well still being a bit lazy however when she hyper she is really energetic. Like I mentioned in my last post I haven’t been able to get many photo of Pumpkin as she been enjoying her system of tunnel -every time I switch my camera on she starts running through the tunnel or decides to have a rest in her cork tunnel which I can just see into when I spy on her. Pumpkin has been enjoying.

Sorry I missed your last post somehow SKB, that's a very impressive mountain Pumpkin has been very busy there, Zeki has done pretty much the same this last week, can't say I blame them the way the weather has been!
Good to hear Pumpkin has been in the mood for cuddles & a bit of hyper activity some of the time, it did make me laugh hearing about her refusing cuddles when you forgot her treats
You were very brave to attempt fixing your laptop, shame it didn't quite work but I hope it's repaired soon & look forward to more photos of your lovely Pumpkin when you have it back.

That is one impressive Fitch mountain Pumpkin has made. My two have burrowed down, but not made the mountain. I can’t even find the entrance.
