Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you Coco61, Astrid and cypher.
I have been enjoying watching the Winter Olympics that I haven't found enough time to reply to Pumpkin thread since I last posted. Pumpkin and myself had a lovely valentines day together - she got loads of cuddles and kisses. She has definitely mastered the innocent look - but if you look past that she is one naughty hammy! I'm so looking forward to Pumpkin next cage clean when I will get to use Pumpkin's new toys in her cage - I'm sure she is going to love them!
________________
Innocent, Cute and Cuddly!
Pumpkin has been putting her innocent expression to good use this last week - although she hasn't been waking me up at night she has been burrowing beneath her wooden wheel shelf where I can hear her chewing on the wooden edging I have around the bottom of the cage. A few time I went over to her cage - and I am sure she has heard me walking over that the chewing stops and she starts to dig her way back out. Once she emerges she completely ignores me and starts kicking all the fitch back beneath her shelf - as to say "There's nothing to see here?!". Once she has kicked the vast majority of the fitch back beneath the shelf she comes over to the edge of the cage and puts on her innocent expression - A very cheeky monkey!
This week Pumpkin has been spending her evening naps as well as been having her washes inside her grass cone/teepee nest - when she hears me walk past her cage she sticks her head out with such an adorable expression on her face which melted my heart every time. Several times I tried to take a photo of her but she either moved or came out - but eventually I managed to get the photo I had wanted.
Wednesday Evening, Pumpkin was extra cuddly. I tried to get to bed a little earlier than usual but Pumpkin had other ideas - and started demanding cuddles. As knew I couldn't resist so we had lots of cuddles. After returning her to the cage after a cuddle which I told Pumpkin would be the last of the evening as it was getting late. This was when Pumpkin discovered the flowers on the dill herbs that came in the packet with the other foliage decorations - like the flax this was another big hit. Pumpkin thoroughly enjoyed herself eating them and after she had finished she had a very satisfied expression on her face (the following night she discovered that their was more around her cage). After that cuddle Pumpkin too decided it was a good time to go to bed also!
I tried this month to get a photo of Pumpkin enjoying a cuddle for this month HOM - you would think as Pumpkin likes cuddles so much it would be easy. But it so difficult with Pumpkin as I needed to hold her with one hand so I could use my camera - and whenever I try to hold Pumpkin with one hand she never sits still or tries to reverse back of my hand. Instead Pumpkin enjoyed the cuddles rather than letting me photograph her whilst enjoying the cuddles. Although in my attempts I also got these photo which I thought were adorable (although I missed the deadline for the HOM entries)...

Lovely photos of cuddle time I know just what you mean about trying to hold the camera in one hand to take cuddle photos, it isn't easy!

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Catching up with the delightful, beautiful, cheeky Pumpkin always leaves me happy and a sore face from laughing at her antics. She's oozing so much beauty and gorgeousness. SKB, once again you've captured your little ray of sunshine at her best.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you astrid, cypher and Thin Lizzy for you sweet replies.
______________
Snow Days
Pumpkin has been enjoying her very own snow days - she heard about this freezing weather the we have been having this week has been called the "Beast of The East" which has been causing heavy snowfalls. Pumpkin has been trying her best to convince me that this is responsible to the mess she has made in her cage with her fitch (or as she like to call it hamster safe cosy snow!). 7pm Tuesday evening Pumpkin was awake early burrowing beneath her fitch as well as creating huge piles of it to - she was unusually hyper and was still energetic during her cuddle time at 8:30 despite having a quick nap (or a recharge!).
She has stuffed the fitch around her wooden wheel preventing it from spinning as well as kicking some in her wheel too. A few time this week she has woken me up during the night wanting me to sort her wheel out so she could run in it. When I tell her she shouldn't try to bury it - she looks all innocent obviously it wasn't her but the beast from the east!
Pumpkin and myself had only been having the brief snow showers in the afternoon at the beginning of the week however today it has been snowing all day albeit very fine snow but very strong wing and freezing temperatures - resulting in me having a snow day from my volunteering! But Pumpkin was awake this morning wanting cuddles - which is very unlike her so we had some cuddles and I showed her the snow from the window but she didn't seem to impressed (and a lot colder than hamster safe cosy snow!) and she much rather enjoy her cuddles instead. Before having a snack and returning to her warm cosy house.
Pumpkin's Playbin Layout
Earlier this week I decided it was time to change the layout in her playbin she was starting to become bored with the previous layout. It did take me just as long to do as it would her Palace - I was struggling with the space available (made me remember how difficult I used to find it with her previous cage ensuring the layout as fun as possible).
However Pumpkin seems to approve of the layout and has been having lots of fun these last few evening - it has been keeping her occupied in between her cuddles on the sofa!

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Sounds like Pumpkin has been having fun with her snow, a lot nicer than the real thing!
Her play bin looks great, plenty there to keep her out of mischief for a while

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Getting caught up on your gorgeous Pumpkin, sounds like she's been having lots of fun and I'm glad that she put the weight back on she'd lost and went back to her usual self. It must have been a worrying time for you SKB.
