All About My Pumpkin - Page 79

Thank you dreamtree1234, cypher, Serendipity7000, Coco61 and CMB. Pumpkin did thoroughly enjoy the flax - she managed to quickly sniff them all out and I am glad I was able to capture her enjoying herself. Fortunately all the other natural foliage decoration still remains and she hasn't yet pushed them over! I have also be thoroughly enjoying watching her running around her cage the last few evening when she has been super hyper - she has also enjoyed tricking me with her tunnel systems I made for her out of her tunnels and she always emerges from a different exit than I expect her to.

I take quite a few photo of Pumpkin when she first exploring her new cage layout - I often imagine she showing me around and is trying to say to me "look at this! and this!". This time most of my photos didn't end up as a blur like usual so here are a few more that I didn't share in my previous post ...

Before I took this photos and when Pumpkin was investigating this bunch of foliage that she moved a piece therefore the tip was hanging just about in her reach. Pumpkin was very determined to catch the end of it - it was so cute to watch. In the end she was successful and chewed the end of!

Pumpkin is still being very energetic the last few evening - she has been out waiting for her cuddles at 8:30 and if I'm slightly late - I get a serious look from Pumpkin as to say "what time do you call this?" - it does make me laugh!

The other evening Pumpkin accidentally nipped my finger, it was completely my fault - we were having are usual cuddle at midnight before I switch the red lights off. Like usual she climbed into my hand and I sit down with her. However during this night Pumpkin decides to start sniffing one of my finger and next thing I know I notice she is biting me - it wasn't a bite more of an investigatory nip as she was very gentle and I didn't feel anything! However as her teeth caught me besides my nail it bleed quite heavily and looked a lot worse than it actually was - which made me feel faint! However it not a too bad of bite - only one set of teeth mark. Its not until afterward I realised that I had adjusted some of her natural foliage as one of her hanging chews kept getting caught as I shut the cage lid - so obviously this is what she was sniffing out. Pumpkin was forgiven instantly - and the following days she was demanding so many cuddles! She is still my sweet girl!

Lovely photos of Pumpkin enjoying her cage, that third one is adorable

I love watching them trying to grab onto the ends of foliage or seed sprays too, it really is amusing to see!

Aww, Pumpkin is just the silly little ham! I love all those pics especially the second one. She most certainly has he body and head at the right angle to be perfectly camouflaged with the stem, lol. What a talented little girl; peek-a-boo, sweet Pumpkin!!! Lol, where oh where could the lovely Pumpkin be? Hmm, I wonder!?!?!. . . . It must have been a great entertainment for you to watch her grab the end of the spray, SKB. I just love it when hams do things like that; they are quite a bundle of determination.

I'm so sorry that Pumpkin nipped your finger. I do hope that it has completely healed. I'm sure it was purely an accident and she probably didn't even realize what she had done to her sweet, loving mum. She is such a cuddly, loving ham who truly adores and treasures you so very much. It's no surprise that she was instantly forgiven.

So glad to hear Pumpkin's back to her usual cheeky self after the scare. Beautiful pics of your super girl and so love the cage layout.

Thank you cypher, dreamtree1234 and Thin Lizzy, I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the photos. Pumpkin is always very entertaining to watch she always looks like she is having so much fun whether she trying to catch a piece of foliage to her just simply running around her cage - she always puts a big smile on my face whenever I see her having fun!

dreamtree1234, my bite hasn't completely healed yet but nearly - it was quite sore the following day as I had my volunteering so when I was working I kept putting pressure on it so it was throbbing a little. I am always quick to forgive after a bite especially as I knew she didn't mean to bit just investigating the foliage smell on my fingers - I should have been more careful and made sure I washed my hands before handling her but I completely forgot. It hasn't stop her demanding cuddles and wanting climbing onto my hand though.

Wake Up, I Want A Cuddle!

Pumpkin managed to wake me up 4 times Saturday night during her nightime fun and one of the times she wanted a cuddle. At 1:30am she woke me up chewing upon her the plastic of her silent runner wheel (the plastic pieces which stick out around where the bolt goes through) and then again at 2am when she started trying to chew upon the edge of her cage - so I went over to see her. This was when I got the innocent look and then she got very excited to see me - and started demanding a cuddle which I couldn't resist - so we had a cuddle and I scattered some food around her cage to act as a distraction for her and to give her something to do. This did keep her amused and allowed me to get back to sleep.

Then at 5:30am Pumpkin woke me up again - I could hear the sound of her banging a chew against the edge of her cage - at first I thought she was trying to get my attention but when I turned on a light to see what she was doing she was very focused and determined to reach one of her wooden mushroom chews (if you remember from one of my previous post - she loves these mushroom chews and enjoys carrying them around her cage). Although a coconut shell was in her way so she was chewing upon that trying to get it to move out of the way so she could get to the mushroom chew out. I switched the light off and as I lied in bed listened to hear until suddenly the banding stopped and all I could then hear was her chewing upon her mushroom. When I woke up in the morning I discovered she had carried into her grass nest.

Next time Pumpkin woke me up was at 7am when she went back to bed and began banging the roof of her house. Normally she a lot more quitter a night and often she doesn't wake me up during the night at all! - I don't think I was in a deep sleep as I would usually be in that why she woke me up so much in the night - I'm glad she doesn't keep me up most night as she was making quite the racket!

Lol, Pumpkin sure is the active, little night owl (or should I say night-ham) isn't she!?! Eros is the exact same way, but she has a tendency to wake me up every single night. The two of them are quite the pair keeping their mums up so we lack some of our beauty sleep. Luckily for them, they have the opportunity to sleep all day if they so desire, lol. It must be nice to have such a leisurely life as our much deserved spoiled hams.

I suppose they just miss us when we are asleep at night. I just love Pumpkin and enjoy reading all about her wonderful adventures with you!!!!

Pumpkin is such a silly ham and always manages to make me smile and giggle; I love your beautiful, spunky princess. Pumpkin, please try your best to let your mum get some much needed rest tonight; I'm sure she will be more than willing to make it up to you with plenty of extra cuddles, treats, playtime, etc. in the morning, lol.

Thank you dreamtree1234 and cypher, Pumpkin is definitely has busy nights full of fun. Normally I often to wake up to her cage in a right mess in the morning and I'm surprised that she doesn't usually wake me up - so was quite unusual for her to wake me up numerous time at night. They must get really confused as to why we are asleep while they are awake that's why I often like to stay up late to spend as much time with her as I can before I go to sleep - as Pumpkin isn't really a morning hamster.

Pancake Day Photo and Happy Valentine's Day

As yesterday was pancake day I decide this year to make Pumpkin some hamster safe pancakes for her to enjoy to! I have considered doing this the last few years but ended up forgetting however this year I remembered!

So here is Pumpkin enjoying her pancakes - I added a grated choc drop to her batter mix and decorated with some pieces of raisin ...

This week I have also made a trip to p@h to get a few new toys for Pumpkin as well as some sand (which was on special offer - 25% off) as I wanted to use the voucher Pumpkin received from the p@h VIP club so I spoilt Pumpkin to two items which I have wanted for a while - the 2 way seagrass tunnel and the seagrass treat basket - previous times I have considered getting them both but thought they were a little overpriced however as they are on currently included in a buy on get one free offer I decided it was the right time to buy them. Also with my vouchers which totalled to £2.50 off - I ended up getting the seagrass treat basket for free!

Also tiny friends farm has also changed the packaging of their sand - now it in a round container (so now come with a free Syrian sized tunnel!)

And finally Pumpkin and myself wanted to wish you and your hamsters a Happy Valentine's day we hope you all have a day full of love and whisker kisses!
