Thank you Coco61, Drago and cypher, we both did have a wonderful Christmas it’s a shame that on Christmas and Boxing Day Pumpkin missed her cuddle time but we have definetely made up for all those missed cuddles. Pumpkin loved her Christmas dinner and is enjoying her presents. I’ve been a bit busy since Christmas so haven’t been able to take many photos of Pumpkin recently but she is still being her usual cheeky mischievous cuddly self.

Pumpkin in The Netherlands - HOM Photoshoot

Today I thought I would share some of the other photo I took as well as outtakes from January HOM. I found it very difficult trying to figure out what country to do but as soon as I realised I had a wooden clog as well as wooden Tulips I decided upon The Netherlands.

Pumpkin cooperated really well in this photoshoot - and I managed to get the photo I had envisioned. Here are the other photos I took from Pumpkin's photoshoot ...

Loved all Pumpkin's photo shoots and her new layout in the playbox. I've thoroughly enjoyed catching up with her thread. It's nice to see all the festive colours in cold, dark January. Very cheerful

It looks like Pumpkin had a great time and I'm sure she will have forgiven you for missing the Christmas and Boxing Day cuddles after your fantastic haul from P@H

Thank You Coco61, cypher and BorisPasha. I also loved the 3rd one - I did considered entering that photo but decide to enter the 1st as that was the photo I had envisioned. Pumpkin did enjoy having a good sniff inside the clog as well as the tulips.

Secret Tunnel, Hamtrum and Fitch Mountain!

Monday evening, whilst I was watching Pumpkin running around her cage and in her wheels - I turned my back to her cage for a few seconds and when I looked back she had vanished! I knew she wasn't in her house as her entrance was completely blocked off, she wasn't in her sand bath or in her grass nest or tunnels. This left me confused but then I could hear Pumpkin by her wooden wheel - that when I realised she was burrowing. Although I couldn't find where her tunnel entrance was until she decided to re-emerge to the surface inside her sisal string covered hideaway. I don't know how long she had her tunnel entrance there for but she did a very good job at keeping it hidden. Although whenever she knew I was looking she didn't disappear down her tunnel just peered in and turned around or climbed on top looking all innocent! Just like this ...

On Tuesday Morning, I awoke to a mess on top of her house roof - which looks like the remains of a hamtrum. Pumpkin did something similar the week previous after returning Pumpkin to her cage after a cuddle and when I didn't get her out straight away for another cuddle when she started begging she grabbed her chew toy nicely placed around her house roof and flung them over the roof and looked at me - insisting that she have another cuddle! So something in the night caused her to have a strop!
As well as this, Pumpkin has also been busy over the last week or so constructing a huge fitch mountain over the entrance to her house - this mountain grew rapidly but Pumpkin was very pleased of all of her hard work it took her to construct it. This made me feel bad when I had to clean her cage yesterday and flatten her mountain so I could clean her house but I'm sure in no time she will have another fitch mountain built to rival this one!

Pumpkin's Palace Cage Layout - January 2018

Yesterday I did Pumpkin's first cage clean of 2018, I wasn't able to clean her cage on Tuesday like I would normally as I had thing planned for that day as I forgot it was the day to clean her cage out. This month Pumpkin's cage doesn't have a theme so it just a natural layout with colourful and also some Christmassy chews - some of which from my p@h sale haul. This layout also includes a extendable tube which I have buried in the fitch - I made the entrances hidden one entrance is just outside her house next to the acrylic and the other is beneath the bendy brigde besides her wooden wheel - I thought about doing this as Pumpkin has been enjoying the hidden tube in her playbox so thought she might enjoy one in her cage too!

So this is how her cage looks for January...

Fabulous pics SKB of Pumpkin's Christmas and New Year. So cute seeing her stuff her beautiful cheeks with her Christmas Dinner. So impressed she had her sprouts.

Love all the photos of Pumpkin, she looks so cheeky & happy! She did a great job with that fitch mountain & looks so sweet half buried in it, I have one of those to destroy in Zeki's cage tomorrow & can't help feeling guilty too

Pumpkin is looking very mischevious guarding the entrance to her secret tunnel and it certainly looks like she had quite a hamtrum anyway looking at those pictures

Nibble Pots and my little Trouble!

On Monday, I remembered I hadn't yet given Pumpkin the nibble pot that Santa Paws gave her for Christmas, so when I gave it to her as her evening treat I just had to get some photos of her tucking in to it. She loves these pots - I usually buy Pumpkin the ones with the apple chips in.

Since cleaning her cage Pumpkin has also been hard at work re-creating her secret tunnels - and a few times this week when I went to get Pumpkin out for her cuddle time she was hard at work creating a tunnel that she made me wait until she had finished before emerging to come out!

In Pumpkin's cage layout for this month I include a extendable tunnel which I had buried beneath the fitch. Yesterday Pumpkin decided to start sleeping inside the tunnel. Sometimes she goes through a phase of deciding to sleep somewhere else in her cage but then returns to house in the evening. However this morning her house entrance was still completely stuffed up (I know when she in her house as their is a visible tunnel going into her house) - so I knew she wasn't in there and a little while later when she took a trip to the sand bath to go to the toilet, have a drink and something to eat - then I watched her return to the underground tunnel and began chewing the tunnel before it went to quite. A little while later when doing some spot cleaning - Pumpkin emerged from the end of her tunnel with her bed head and sleepy eyes - and she came over to investigate. I decided it might be a good idea to remove the tunnel - this is when I discovered what Pumpkin has been up too!

This is why I Pumpkin has the nickname - "Trouble!" - as she often up to no good if I can hear but can't see her! And also when she appears she has the most innocent expression on her face! Her naughty antics do make me laugh - especially as I love naughty hamsters!
So I decided to cut the tunnel down into two smaller tunnels removing the large chewed up portion, and they will be used as a playpen toy instead - so I can supervise and monitor her chewing more. Especially as she had sleeping amongst chewed up pieces of plastic which had quite rough edges.

Since removing the tunnel and opening up the entrance of her house - Pumpkin has still decided she doesn't want to sleep in her house still but instead is sleeping beneath the fitch somewhere in her cage - which I don't mind. Although a cute thing as I have been typing this she been snoring/sleep squeaking - which has been adorable to listen too!
