Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you CMB, cypher, AprilPearl, BorisPasha, Ruth Edwards and Thin Lizzy. Pumpkin is pleased you all like the photos - she does know how to pose perfectly it's a shame my camera doesn't focus quick enough sometimes but I do really love that butt shot though.
Cypher, So sweet that your hamster too also take a piece of Fitch back to their nest with them - I very cute seeing her doing this!
AprilPearl - Satins do look like their glowing. I like how satins look slightly depending on the light as in natural light Pumpkin looks like a cinnamon but in artificial light her fur looks more brown. Most of my girls used to hoard their treats in the open - although they took a few of their most favourite pieces back to their house for their midnight (or more like midday) snack.
______________
Playbin Layout and Afternoon Snack
Yesterday afternoon, I decided to change Pumpkin Playbin Layout - (her playbin is the IKEA Samla 130l box) as she was becoming a little bored of her previous layout and spent most of her time banging the lid or trying to chew the lid and mesh - so I thought she might appreciate a new layout with different toys to help keep her entertained for more than 5 minutes.
This time I decided to divide the playbin in half - so one side of playbin she has some Fitch from her previous set up and the other half has aspen and back2nature pellets (I had these both in storage and they needed using up). I have a cardboard divider between the different substrates I would have like the substrate to be deeper (it's approx 15cm although some parts are slightly deeper)- but I ran out of aspen and pellets as well as I decided to use less so she wouldn't be reach the lid when standing on her toys as she to get fixated on trying to chew the lid and mesh she can't chew on it or the mesh. However the substrate is deep enough as Pumpkin was still able to dig and burrow in it this evening.
This evening Pumpkin throughly enjoyed her new set up and spent most of her cuddle time exploring her new layout as well as running in her wheel - but she also still enjoyed her cuddles too!
This is how I set up her Playbin Layout - I went for a colourful theme.
And a few more photos of Pumpkin having fun exploring...
Also her are a few photos I took last week of Pumpkin enjoying an afternoon snack of a small piece of pasta and a green bean! She ate all the pasta before making the green bean disappear into her pouch!

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Bless her, she does look happy in her play bin. And she definitely enjoyed her treats! I just want to reach out and stroke her fur, she looks so very soft.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
It looks really great SKB, nice that you went for a different substrate at each side The bottom right pic on the first set of 4 is so cute, her little bum sticking up in the air
I like that she has a nice orange wheel too, given that she is called Pumpkin it suits her completely

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Great pics as always! Lol, pics of Pumpkin innocently proclaiming that there are absolutely no hidden tunnels, and I couldn't help smiling at her cute bum, too. I love the play bin setup with the two different substrates. She sure seems to be enjoying it. What fun! She looks extra cute in the bottom right pic of her exploring it.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you cypher, AprilPearl, BorisPasha, dreamtree1234 and Thin Lizzy. Pumpkin is really happy with her new playbin layout and she is still having lot of fun in there every evening.
The 30th of August was a sad day for me, at first I didn't realise until I saw the photo of Sherbet on my wall and them instantly realised that it was a year ago I had to make the very difficult decision to help Sherbet to the bridge. I still very much miss my snuggly Sherbet and also really miss her curled up asleep around my neck. As I didn’t feel like doing much, I decided it might be a good time to organise and tidy up my hamster supplies, as it was getting really messy. Seeing some things did bring back some wonderful memories of not only Sherbet but also of all of my girls. Having everything all nice and tidy again was really nice.
But I do have a happy hamster anniversary coming up soon - Pumpkin's 1 year gotcha day/adoption anniversary on the 24th. I already bought her presents for her special day, so she will be spoilt. I can't believe I have almost had Pumpkin for a whole year!

Pumpkin's Palace Cage Layout - September 2017
Tuesday I spent the afternoon cleaning Pumpkin's cage as well as giving her a new layout for her to enjoy this month. Most things in her cage are the same as last month however in a different layout along with different chews. I also managed to include Pumpkin's ceramic pineapple house in her cage and she has been really enjoying sitting inside it - and I also caught her having a brief nap inside there last night.
This is how Pumpkin's cage looks like this month and a few photo of her initial exploration of the new layout...
Pumpkin has been thoroughly enjoying this layout the last few days - so her cage doesn't looks as tidy as it does in the pictures - there is currently a huge pile of fitch by her house entrance and also by her grass nest. Pumpkin has also still been enjoying playing her willow sticks - she woke me up 3am Thursday morning to a very loud racket caused by her banging the sticks against the edge of her cage as she was chewing on them. When I went over to ask if she could play her willow sticks a little quieter, she looked very surprised to see me and looked at me if to say “why are you awake and shouldn’t you be asleep still!”. Whilst I was standing beside her cage she decided she would have a run in her wheel instead but as soon as I went back to bed and put my head back on the pillow she decides to go back to playing her music with her willow sticks again - probably wanting to play some soothing music to help send me back to sleep!

Pumpkin Photos - Grooming and my Grumpy Pumpkin
Pumpkin decided to have a grooming session whilst sitting inside her cork log last night and as I had been just taking some photos of Pumpkin I decided I couldn't miss this ideal opportunity to get some better grooming photos - as it very difficult to get good grooming photos of Pumpkin as she usually grooms in the privacy of her grass nest.
After she finished grooming Pumpkin looked really relaxed and at one point I thought she was about to fall asleep instead she looks at me with an incredibly cute grumpy expression on her face! Pumpkin usually looks grumpy after a wash – so I think it more of a relaxed/sleepy expression really! But she doesn’t stay looking grumpy for long and she then she started being extra cute!

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Another good/fun layout for Pumpkin to enjoy. The cork log against the side of the tank are a good way of getting the grooming picture. Even when hamsters are grumpy they look cute.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Oh, SKB, I'm so sorry to hear that August 30th marked the one year anniversary of your precious Sherbet going to the Bridge. Her curled up asleep on your next must have been truly special and heartwarming. I'm sure that her photo and all of her special toys must have flooded you with so many overwhelming emotions. You had such a precious, loving bond with one another so it makes these sad milestones all the more painful to bear. My heart goes out to you, and I know that Sherbet, with whiskers twitching, is happily looking down at her most precious mum and gratefully watching you play with your lovely Pumpkin. Sherbet loved you and would want you to be alright so give Pumpkin extra, EXTRA cuddles. Remember that Sherbet is never farther than in the center of your heart for that is where all of our loved ones remain after they pass on to the Bridge.
Your new cage setup for Pumpkin looks totally awe-inspiring as always. I just love the natural look with all of your whimsical bursts of color touches that you added in. You sure are an expert in making a cage look like the most magnificent and entertaining amusement park ever. I'm sure your little princess will enjoy it thoroughly.
I love all of the pics, especially the series of excellent grooming pics (great job capturing them) and the large, left side "grumpy" Pumpkin expression, lol. She is just SO amusing and her grumpy look makes me giggle. Silly, Pumpkin, you even look so humorous when you are grumpy. I love you so.
Happy early 1 year Gotcha/Adoption Day on the 24th, Pumpkin. I have no doubt that you will be thoroughly spoilt by you mum who love you so very, VERY much! I look forward to seeing you enjoy all of your surprises that are waiting for your special day to arrive.
