Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank You cypher and Thin Lizzy
Taming Session Photos - 8th October
Today, I thought I would try to get some photos of Pumpkin during her taming session – it a little hard when she constantly running around, rarely sits still or her wanting to come out, however I did managed to get a few. She didn’t seem to care about the sounds of my camera and the occasional flash. 1st photo shows Pumpkin enjoying her new 28cm Trixie wheel – she has a good long run in it at the start of her taming sessions after she has collected all the hidden treats around her playpen. The second photo shows Pumpkin climbing into my hand after trying to climb out of her playpen. 3rd photo show Pumpkin trying to escape my playpen extension which is escape proof – bottom half is card painted with plastikote and top is clear Perspex – but she still tries, this will be used as a divider for my room when she get her free-roam playtimes. The 4th shows Pumpkin with her nose through the bars of the playpen trying to find an alternative way out - never mind how many toys are inside the playpen my hamsters always seem to prefer to be on the other side. The final photo I tried to get a photo chewing her wooden stick chew but as soon as I get my camera she stops chewing it – typical – however she still looks sweet in the photo although she was being a little naughty. Since I took the first photos of Pumpkin 2 weeks ago, she has gotten bigger, her face is maturing although it still so cute however Pumpkin still has her big ears!

She is very cute, I'm sure she always will be even when she's all grown up!
I can sense how energetic she is from the photos, almost see her moving lol! She looks as though she's having lots of fun & getting really confident now.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you ...
... cypher , She will always be cute - I'm looking forward to see how big she will grow as she still looks like she got a lot of growing left to do - that reminds me I must try and weigh her. Pumpkin doesn't stay still for long - she always up to something normally being mischievous. She has a lot of fun in her taming session and especially enjoys climbing over me.
... badwolf - Pumpkin is always making me smile and laugh and she looked very sweet in the last two trying to find an alternative way out of the playpen.
... Thin Lizzy , I didn't noticed that she had grown up until I saw the photo I took after I got her - although she is still adorable as ever. I really like the 2nd photo as it shows how much her confidence and our bond has grown - she definitely a friendly sweet hamster
Few Little Updates
There are no taming updates due to myself having a really bad cold which started in Late Sunday evening and I wouldn't want to risk passing it on to her so she hasn't had her taming sessions recently - it a little sad that I can't get her out of her cage and continue her taming as I'm sure she been missing them to. But I will make it up to her when I'm feeling better - today I feel a lot better although I decided it was best not to get her out just in case I still have the remains of my cold hopefully if I feel better maybe tomorrow or Thursday I can resume our taming sessions.
Now for a more positive updates - Pumpkin is still doing really well, luckily I managed to spoil her with some new treats before getting my cold - including a piece of chicken which she loved.
Today I felt a lot better, so when I was out today I made a special trip to my local p@h as I was informed they had their Christmas items in store - I managed to buy most of the items I initially wanted although some didn't look as good as in person, so decided against purchasing them. Although I have a few Christmas items which I bought last year after Christmas for 50% and 75% off - in which I didn't end up using for Sherbet so she will get those to.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Sorry to hear you haven't been well, that must be frustrating when things were going so well but I'm sure Pumpkin will be happy to pick up where you left off without any problems when you're well again.
Preparing for her first Christmas sounds like a great way to make yourself feel better!

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I hate it when I feel under the weather, so I hope you're better real soon. Pumpkin will be sure to save her energy up and will express this once you're back to the routine.
You mentioned about P@H and that some of the Christmas items weren't up to standard. What were they?
I was in my local P@H the same day you were in yours and I bought a load of stuff also.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thanks cypher and Thin Lizzy
I am better so Pumpkin’s taming session resumed on Wednesday. She was a little nervous to start off with and was having too much fun in her playpen that she was interested in being handled but she did get to try out my DIY Bucket wheel – which she absolutely loved after she got used to it. Today she was more confident to be handled, climbed into my hand and all over me and is getting a little better on being picked up although sometimes she get a little nervous but she calms down quickly. She was hand fed a few treats as a reward after her taming session including a mealworm – which must be eaten straight away, Pumpkin Seeds – they get pouched and a carrot chip – which has ended up in her toilet. I also managed to weigh Pumpkin, currently she is 155g at 3/4 months of age.
I noticed that Pumpkin is a light sleeper – when she hears me touch the cage door to put some more tissue in for her or change her water – she out in a flash, wide awake and being very cute – this is a little difficult to adjust to as Sherbet was a deep sleeper could clean her cage and she would be fast asleep in her house – it also doesn’t help as occasionally I can be a little clumsy and Pumpkin is always at the bars staring at me when I turn around – which is really cute.
Pumpkin has been keeping herself busy – including doing some home improvements made a tunnel to her cardboard box to her the hole she has chewed in the back of the box and the pre-cut entrance has been blocked up. There is trench along the front of the cage and she has buried her food bowl, and a few of her chews and toys. It also so nice to be able to talk to Pumpkin through the cage bars now that I'm better as she sits there listening with her big ears, being all cute and innocent – as if she is ever naughty well she has one naughty habit – bar chewing – Pumpkin has bar chewed since I got her – I ignore her – but she also chews the bars when I’m not in the same room, attached cardboard – that’s gone in a flash and I attached wood chews in the places she initially bar chewed but she start to chew another section the bars. I am planning to re-arrange her cage tomorrow as I’m going to put her 28cm Trixie wheel in her cage and a few more toys hopefully this will help reduce her bar chewing, but I’m getting worried as she started pulling the bars whilst pushing the base with her feet – I am so worried she going to damaged her teeth especially after what I have been through earlier this year – so I currently in the process of planning my idea – something I’ve been planning and wanting to do for such a long time so hopefully this will solve this problem.
Here are a couple of photos of Pumpkin enjoying the bucket wheel ...

The garlands weren't as I expected and I did have to think hard whether to get them or not, but in the end I thought I could make something similar myself which would cost less. But most of the stuff was better than expected - so excited to give them to Pumpkin and make her first Christmas extra special!
