Re: All About My Pumpkin
Flax isn't the best thing for sprouting, you need to do it in a different way as it a mucilaginous seed, millet & spelt should be fine though just keep it damp (no holes in the bottom of the saucer but terracotta saucers work best) it depends how fresh it is, some take longer to germinate than others, cover it with a little sand too.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Ahhhh, Ok. Well, I can use the flax seed to give them to him as a treat, because I think that I've read you many times saying that they are good for the coat, aren't they?
And maybe that's the problem, that I have done several holes on the bottom of my bowl, so maybe it wasn't wet enough. I didn't put sand over them either. It looks like I was doing everything wrong . I'll try to improve my skills

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Hamsterita, the bowls didn't have any holes in the bottom, I used the same method as cypher has mentioned, although initially I didn't cover the seeds until they started to germinate.
Pumpkin loves flax seeds - I think they are good for their fur.
Thank you Serendipity7000, she had a lot of foraging both in her forage and sprouts.
Pumpkin Photos - Treat Stick
Pumpkin was out and about the other morning - normally I don't see much of her during day - I was watching her for a little while chewing her chews buried in her sand bath, as well as having a little run on her wheel. After the little run in her wheel she decided to chew on her treat stick - I couldn't pass up this opportunity to get some cute photos of her enjoying herself! ...

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I love it when Mocho has a go at a hanging treat stick. Pumpkin looks as though she is having a really good time. It is also a good way of knowing that the teeth are being well used and so being trimmed.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Aww great pics of Pumpkin SKB Looks like she is having a great time getting stuck in to her treat. I like the way that even though she is nibbling away she still seems to be keeping an eye on you

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I'm having problem with my sprouts. After the lentils I tried millet 4 times and all ended rotten. Now I'm trying spelt with better luck, at least they've already germinated.
Pumpkin looks very determinate. She's enjoying his treat stick for sure. Which one are those? I ordered two the other day but I don't know If they are very helthy

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you Coco61, BorisPasha, cypher, Thin Lizzy and Hamsterita. Pumpkin has enjoyed her treat stick so much that all that is left now is the wooden stick - but she has been enjoying it in moderation and had decided to have a tidy up last night so has relocated the rest of the treat stick and her apple nibble pot to a safer location - her sand bath!. BorisPasha, Pumpkin does like to keep a watchful eye on me. Hamsterita, I can't remember the brand of this treat stick and I also threw away the packaging when I did her cage clean but it they are very similar to the vitakraft ones. These are something I normally give occasionally to her as they aren't the healthiest. Which treat sticks did you order?
Pumpkin was a little unimpressed with me the other evening as I couldn't get her out for her cuddles time as I was out - when I returned home Pumpkin ignored me and then sat staring at me with her disapproving look. Also as she had been napping in her grass nest she had bed head so it made her look like she was frowning - she looked so cute. I did leave her some of her favourite treats (mealworms, linseeds and a apple nibble pot) in her cage before I left for her to enjoy whilst I was out which she did but that didn't make up for missing her cuddle time. But Pumpkin couldn't stay grumpy for to long and a little while later she was back to her normal happy self and was begging for cuddles. We had plenty of cuddles before I went to bed.
