It does sound as though he may be scared, I would let him explore the blanket himself without you in a sealed off area.

We have spread the blanket out in the playpen, and it seems to actually make him more comfortable in the playpen.
The biting didn't actually occur under the blanket. It was a specific place he kept trying to get in to and only when aggie was holding him. I already thought he tends to let that situation get a little out of hand. I don't know why Romeo bites when he gets to that point, but aggie has been instructed to stop letting him near that place.
If he's a bit nervous out of the cage I can understand him feeling more comfortable under the blanket, good that he's enjoying it!

He is always nervous to be honest. That's just his Nature.. his feet vibrates constantly. I have become accustomed to judging his comfortable levels by his ears. As long as they are up and alert it is just his usual nervousness. If they don't stand straight i know he is uncomfortable
I do love reading about Romeo, glad he's liking his blanket.

Romeo made me laugh so hard today. I have store throat and can't be near them, so i asked my boyfriend to have a serious talk with him about personal hygene.
He litterally sat down with Romeo and told him "you don't put food in the toilet!". Then comes the aftermath! About 15 minutes later i see Romeo head for his wheel quite determined. His wheel is at the opposite end of the cage, where he proceeded to pee behind it and defiantly sit in front of it and take his time cleaning himself afterwards. He then ran just as determined back to his toilet and there proceeded to try and dig everything out of it!
Don't ever think your hamster doesn't understand you!
Awww poor Romeo lol. He's looking good though, his coat is nice and glossy. He's a cutie
Hope you feel better soon Julie

Thank you the penicillin is working very well, so it won't be long
He has been getting up really early lately and just roamed around the cage. That's a very different behaviour than we are used to. It's really nice seeing him around dinnertime instead of around midnight
