I would be very careful using any essential oils near the hams, great for humans but the oils are very powerful & medicinal so can be quite dangerous for such a tiny animal.

I agree with the Cypher regarding the use of oils.
That pic of his paw is so very cute.

Finally caught it on video! Do any of your Syrians prefer to sit like this?
Romeo did it a lot the first couple of months. After his initial escape attempts he started pulling them in instead and it is only very recently that he has started "relaxing" them again.
It is really good to see. He has started becoming a bit more relaxed again generally
I find my males would do it just like Romeo, showing us their bits lol!

Oh gosh yes Quigley often sits with his ham melons proudly on display for all to see! When he's washing himself, he tends to sit like that too. Though he is long haired, he seems to have barely any fur covering them and he has them "out" more often than any other male hamster I have owned (and I've owned 8!). I wonder if maybe the hot weather is affecting him.

I love it when he sits like that. He tucked them in today. I was almost insulted by it. Aggie says it probably has something to do with temperature. I just know that when everything is out he is good and comfortable, so how dare he!
